I sure HAVE heard it. They play it a lot here in NYC. That song has been a gold mine for Burt & Hal. It's a great song, too!

Another commercial plays What The World Needs Now Is Love, too.

If you're gonna sell products with music, then why not take from the best?

SAG is one of my favorites! To this day, I'm amazed how the singers scat sung together like that! The rehearsals must have been torturous for Burt. But they sure nailed it!

I noticed how they honored Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee (they are a married couple for those who don't know) together... and I thought a) that that was very appropriate and b) that would solve the Hal David question.... in other words, they should honor Burt and Hal in the same way they honored Ossie an...

I saw her, too, of course. When she sang White Christmas, her voice reminded me of the old Dionne... in fact, it reminded me of how she sang "Unlucky". You did notice, of course, that the audience gave Dionne a standing ovation when she walked in. It was good to see an audience who had a t...

I couldn't believe it!

I was listening to the radio this morning and just as I turned it on, Carly Simon is singing Irving Berlin's Christmas standard "White Christmas". So I'm listening to the piano player and I'm thinking, "Gee, this guy is really good... he sounds a lot like Burt Bacharach... the way he'...

Re: Hmmmm...

Hey - while i'm here, anyone know how i can hear jack jones version of "I'm a Better Man for Having Loved You?" It looks like it is only on vinyl. Was it just a single or is it on one of his albums? The allmusicguide isn't helping much. I wanna hear it because i think the song is beautifu...

Unfortunately not ! In addition to your suggestion - I would have recommended for inclusion the underplayed "bouncy" little number by Burt entitled: "The Bell That Couldn't Jingle" It's simple with an unmistakable Bacharach hook! And "Christmas Day" (from "Promise...

Obviously, it's unfair to judge the whole song ("Alfie") from just that little part; however, the lack of Burt's arrangement is so overwhelming to me. It takes a lot out of it!

My top 10 for today, 9-28-04

My Top Ten list will vary day to day, depending on my mood of course. You see, Burt wrote too many unbelievably great songs to fit into a Top Ten list. Top Ten lists were not made for geniuses like Burt Bacharach, I'll tell you that! Every so often I will post my favority top 10. They will be differ...

Burt & Hal listed in Q Magazine

Here's the link to the magazine: http://www.q4music.com/nav?page=q4music.about.currentissue You'll notice that "The Greatest Songwriters Of All Time" is on the cover. I saw the magazine today in a magazine store. I figured that if they didn't list Burt & Hal, then whoever wrote the art...

The first was Magic Moments performed by Perry Como. I heard this song at a radio broadcasting. Then French version of Trains Boats and Planes by Claude François. I love all BB composition especially South American Getaway and Wives and Lovers. I loved Magic Moments and it was only later that I le...

Re: Burt's Contemporaries

Your question makes me wonder whether Britain's Tony Hatch is still composing new songs and/or touring. He came to prominence in Britain about the same time Burt began to be famous both here and over there; and he was often compared to Burt. Anyone know what Tony Hatch has done over the last decade...
