Re: Bacharach David songbook to be Rumer's next Album

Wouldn't it be great if she didn't do any of the big hit B/D songs and only did the great lesser known songs that few people cover, like, for instance, "Who Gets The Guy?", which I think is a great choice. And please note that of all the songs that Dionne recorded, "Who Gets The Guy?&...

Re: On the Flip Side

I wonder if this TV production exists somewhere. Someone has to have it. That would be interesting to see. A number of years ago, I met Vincent and his lovely wife, Cheryl, at the Museum of Television and Radio here in New York City where we saw "On The Flip Side." It is definitely availa...

Re: Rare Bacharach promo video (1967)

Classic Burt Bacharach. Gotta love it! As for me, Burt Bacharach didn't just write songs and he didn't just compose music. The man wrote the soundtrack to my life!!

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

In today's (May 5, 2015) New York Times, there is a review of singer Roslyn Kind's act at the club "54 Below" (on 54th street between Broadway and 8th Avenue). It isn't the greatest review of Roslyn Kind (who happens to be Barbra Streisand's half-sister). But it's the last sentence of the ...

Re: A new (country?) Bacharach song: "So Carry On"

Does anyone know who wrote the lyric? (Elvis -- from the new show?)

And I wonder why Burt isn't doing the string arrangement himself?

Anyhow, I can't wait to hear it!

Non-Bacharach Songs You Like

I happen to think that Hozier's "Take Me To Church" is one hell of a song. He has a great voice, too. That song knocked me over when I first heard it. I had never heard of George Ezra (English singer-songwriter) until last week when he was the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live.&qu...

If I may be so bold to throw out this idea: Mark should assign rights to someone besides himself to be able to delete spammers' posts from this forum.

Re: Sad, Isn`t It?

Mark has a young family and a life of his own and - with good reason - seems not to look in here any more. Yes, very true. Spammers have taken over Bacharachonline.com and Mark is obviously absent. It appears that this is now dablu's and cocerton's forum. Nevertheless, it seems now very unlikely th...

Did anyone ever ask Hal David this question?

I'm talking about the song "24 Hours From Tulsa." Hal's lyric goes like this: Dearest darling, I had to write to say that I won't be home anymore. For something happened to me while I was riding home and I'm not the same anymore. For I was only 24 hours from Tulsa. Only one day away from y...

Re: Dionne Warwick 1965-Singing Bacharach Arrangement

Thanks, B2B, for that great post/history lesson. When I first heard Dionne on the radio singing the Valley of the Dolls theme, I said to myself, "Burt and Hal do it again!" That's how sure I was that this great song was Burt and Hal's. When I found out that Andre and Dory Previn wrote it, ...

Re: Clark Terry Remembered

How coincidental! I just posted in another thread how Ray Brown was in the Merv Griffin TV Show band. I believe that Clark Terry was in the same band. So sorry to hear of his passing. Merv had one hell of a band -- as did Johnny Carson. I'm back... I got that wrong! Clark Terry was in Johnny's band...

Re: Who Played Bass

If you are referring to Burt/ Dionne recording of Alfie from around 1967, I think that was Ray Brown on Bass....He did a fantastic job on it. Who later played bass on The Merv Griffin Show! Both Merv's show and Johnny's show had some really great musicians in those bands. You couldn't do better tha...
