Re: so what would it take to get Burt to do a few gigs in the UK

That was amazing! I also saw him at the Festival Hall, in London, with Elvis Costello. Absolutely packed out. I think he would be BRILLIANT at the early Sunday evening spot on the Pyramid stage at the Glastonbury Festival. Leonard Cohen and Neil Diamond achieved major success there. The crowd is def...

What can I say? I'm behind Dionne Warwick and the Shirelles all the way. Add me to the list.

That's true David .. many perfect places around and I feel sure he is a big attraction here in the UK.

I absolutely agree Bruce and BtoB. Count me in for a petition if such a thing is at all possible? How about an e-mail or letter direct to each of them? I have had 'Trust in Your Heart' drifting around the place all morning this Easter Sunday .. bliss Dionne's lovely vocal range and timing as always.

Re: London Daily Telegraph review of Rumer singing Burt

David, that was so the case! I must say I clung on to the Bacharach sound right thru' that period as it was the only popular musicianship that made real sense to me. There was Simon and Garfunkel, Carole King etc but Burt's 'sound' blew me away. There is something so fabulous and sensual about it. I...

Re: Dionne Warwick and a Duet partner (Scepter)

Bachto Bacharach .. your knowledge of the period is brilliant. Have you had anything published? It would be nice to know and if so, could I get hold of them? If not, recording it would be amazing for all your detailed knowledge to be published for on going generations. Much of what you write here co...

Re: Dionne's new album of Sammy Cahn songs released next month

Yes I absolutely agree .. which is why I have found her new CD to be such a pleasant surprise. A new collaboration with new Bacharach material would be amazing. As a long term fan, I too found the 'My Friends and Me' album very ordinary and like you say why rehash those songs when the originals are ...

Thank you for that .. so no point then in even trying to campaign for Dionne's new CD?

Re: Dionne's new album of Sammy Cahn songs released next month

Further to my last posting and just out of interest .. does anyone know how Grammy shortlists and nominations are awarded? Is it a completely closed shop (like the Oscars) or does the general public get a say? Or is it purely on record sales?

Blue and Steve thank you for those clips! Great to see Sandie Shaw. She handles Bacharach's songs so well and I could literally feel her emerged in 'Trains and Boats and Planes'. It reminded me of what a great song it is.

Wow! Thank you for that review GB!! I must say I LOVE the album more and more .. pure joy to listen to. It would be brilliant if her 50 year career could correspond with a grammy award for this great piece of work. Let's start now to plug for it cos that is the only way.

Re: Ronan Keating in the Studio with Burt

I understand what you are saying Rio. I think the high sales in the UK are mostly dependent on Ronan Keating. He has a huge fan base in the UK that goes back to his Boyzone days. It is good that Burt Bacharach's music is introduced to a wider audience. I don't think anyone will interpret many of Bur...

Re: Dionne's Solid Gold videos

Hi Dionnefan! Yes I remember avidly watching Solid Gold and what amazed me was Dionne's ability to interpret a vast array of material from differing artists and make the songs seemingly effortlessly her own .. to the point that I wished she could have recorded a whole batch of those songs herself!
