Re: Interview with Burt
BacktoBacharach, Thanks for sharing your favorable opinion of the article. "In the first paragraph this simply renders nonsensical several potentially very laudable statements. In Brazil, apparently in Italy, and probably everywhere else, people talk (to him, no less!) as if he wasn't supposed ...

Interview with Burt
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/jul/30/burt-bacharachs-non-stop-musical-journey/ I learned from it. I just have a real problem with the repeated references to his age. In the first paragraph this simply renders nonsensical several potentially very laudable statements. In Brazil, apparently i...

Video once removed from YouTube of Burt, Karima and Mario Biondi at the San Remo festival. I think this video is soooooooo wonderful. It blows my mind every time. I wrote somewhere that to me this is artistry meeting entertainment at the highest possible level. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5wQt57...

Strictly speaking, I don't. But Greece is in deep financial trouble after a huge fiscal crisis. On ocasion it's even been a dangerous place on account of that. Of course, huge problems are just around the corner for many countries that believe or believed that reality was optional. Interesting times.

Re: a cover of "If I Could Go Back"
I will soon listen to this Andy Williams version. Don't recall having ever even heard about it. I didn't partularly care for the song until I heard Burt giving this song an extremely powerful and passionate rendition. I could not overstate how much I value having that recording. I owe the opportunit...

Re: A Little-Heard Song? "London Life"
I knew the song and I like it quite a bit. Sounds like it could have been a Petula Clark hit.
It's So Fine (Pye Girls Are Go) [UK] Disc 2
Track 21.
Original: 1965.
I believe Mr. Keith Burke, may he R.I.P., offered us access to it a couple of years ago.

Re: Ronan Keating in the Studio with Burt
To those who know Keating from before and know the UK market to some extent: what kind of sales one could expect from a solo album with him? How much of the first several weeks of sales would depend solely on him? Alternatively, how much of the initial sucess can be attributed the quality of Burt's ...

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)
So you are writing a book about Burt and want something new to say. Maybe unimportant, but new. Maybe you want a trivia question about Burt that not even you would have been expected to know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENWoaeFqXFw&NR=1&feature=fvwp Starting at 6:26, you read that legenda...

Re: Bacharach/Sondheim connection
Enormous,
Tanglewod always meant "Copland," to me.
Please Google this
"copland's general harmonic"
and check the first link for another possible relation between Burt and Sondheim, in the light of your post.

Re: Bacharach/Sondheim connection
I wrote more than once about what Tunick said about working with and learning from Burt. A life-altering experience. He was particularly impressed with what Burt had to say specifically about rythm. I am not aware of a better connection between Burt and Sondheim. Also, I believe it was on a Sondheim...

Re: Phil Ramone Discusses Working with Bacharach/Warwick
I believe it is in Part 1 of the interview that PR says that Paul Simon used to sing demos of Burt's songs. I don't think I have ever read that anywhere before.
