Jagger Sings for "Alfie"

Three new songs to be included in classic film remake
It's all about Mick

Mick Jagger and the Eurhythmics' Dave Stewart have collaborated on three new songs and the theme music for an upcoming remake of the classic 1966 film Alfie.
The duo are planning to enter London's famous Abbey Road Studio 2 to record "Old Habits Die Hard," "Blind Leading the Blind" and "Let's Make It Up" for the film, which stars Jude Law reprising Michael Caine's role as the iconic womanizing title character. Susan Sarandon and Marisa Tomei will also star in the Paramount Pictures remake.

"Mick and I had a great time," Stewart said. "As the movie comes together, it feels like a classic, as the themes we have written turn into songs crafted to fit the scenes and Alfie's character."

Composer John Powell will work with Jagger and Stewart to include their instrumental music into the film's score. The original film featured Oliver Nelson's classic orchestration paired with jazz legend Sonny Rollins' score and performance. The Burt Bacharach/Hal David-penned title track was written for, but not included in, the film, and Dionne Warwick had a Number Fifteen hit with "Alfie" a year later.

The new Alfie is being produced and directed by Charles Shyer, based on the Bill Naughton play and screenplay that informed the first film, and is scheduled for release this fall.

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) -- Rocker Mick Jagger has composed three songs for the remake of the 1966 romance film "Alfie."
The original romantic comedy stars Michael Caine and Vivien Merchant, with the song "Alfie" penned by Burt Bacharach. All of them were nominated for Oscars for the film, and Bacharach won a Grammy for the song "What's it All About, Alfie?"

The reinvention is starring Jude Law, Marisa Tomei and Susan Sarandon, and is scheduled for a 2005 release by Paramount. The studio plans to re-release the original film later this year in theaters to whet the appetite of audiences for the new movie.

Jagger's original songs were recorded in London last week according to CNN, and are titled: "Blind Leading the Blind," "Let's Make it Up" and "Old Habits Die Hard."

The Rolling Stones front man has written songs for movies in the past, and has acted in films, most recently, "The Man from Elysian Fields" in 2001.
