Dionne Warwick and Others on Flip Wilson Show Marathon!

Post by warbachavid »

TV Land has a 48-hour "Flip Wilson Show" marathon scheduled for the
weekend of July 3-4, and among Flip's many guests (some appearing in
two or more episodes) will be Bobby Darin, Perry Como, Louis
Armstrong, Robert Goulet, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne,
Bing Crosby, Steve Lawrence, Johnny Mathis, Leslie Uggams, Aretha
Franklin, Ray Charles, Diahann Carroll, Melba Moore, Billy Eckstine,
Petula Clark, Barbara McNair, Sammy Davis Jr., Pearl Bailey, Carol
Channing, Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick, Della Reese, Harry
Belafonte, and Carol Lawrence.

The original 1970-74 episodes were an hour long, and unfortunately TV
Land will be showing half-hour "highlights" shows, which probably
means that much of the music will fall by the wayside. But TV Land's
episode guide does mention several songs, both guest solos and duets
with Flip, including Armstrong ("When the Saints Go Marching In"),
Fitzgerald ("The Glory of Love"), Horne ("Rocky Raccoon"), Uggams
("Baby, It's Cold Outside"), Carroll ("I Feel the Earth Move"),
Charles ("Look What They've Done to My Song, Ma"), Davis ("Mr.
Bojangles"), etc.

For the complete episode schedule, go to:

...and select "The Flip Wilson Show."

Dionne Warwick's Flip Wilson Show Spot

Dionne Warwick sang "Anyone Who Had A Heart" and Aretha Franklin's "Daydreaming" on the show, and on another show, Aretha sang a snipped of "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" impersonating Dionne.

Flip Show

In 1972, Dionne appeared on the show and sang two songs. One was "Anyone Who Had A Heart" and the other was "Daydreaming."

Alas, as pointed out here by warbachavid, and I quote "The original 1970-74 episodes were an hour long, and unfortunately TV Land will be showing half-hour "highlights" shows, which probably means that much of the music will fall by the wayside."

'Anyone Who Had A Heart" fell by the wayside in the Flip marathon. I would have loved to see it again.

In the Carol Burnett reruns on TVLand, the same fate befell Dionne's "I Say A Little Prayer" which she sung on the Carol Burnett Show in January 1968 and also "What the World Needs Now" which she sung in October 1971. These are not included in the half-hour highlight shows airing presently. I would love to see again the Dean Martin Show that aired in November of 1970 when Dionne sang "Paper Mache" and also Ed Sullivan in March of 1971 when she sang "Who Gets the Guy."

Has anyone seen her many appearances on the Glen Campbell Show from the late 60s and early 70s? Reruns aired recently on CMT but I did not catch any of them.

Burt and Dionne Television According to TV TOME

Post by BachToBacharach »

According to TV Tome, these are the shows Dionne and Burt have made appearances in. It seems that many of Burt and Dionne's Tonight show gigs are not listed as well as many of the variety shows are not listed. And where are the rest of Dionne's American Bandstand shows? Burt and Dionne were staples on the Mike Douglas Show and the Merv Griffin Shows in the late 60s into the late 70s and both Burt and Dionne were guests on Dinah Shore's morning shows and talk shows. Dionne's 1969 CBS special is not listed either so this is in no way a comprehensive list.

I wonder how many of these are available on DVD or video?
