According to Dionne's Facebook page, American Idol will feature the music of Bacharach/David this upcoming Wednesday (April 10). Dionne will be featured as a mentor to the contestants. Be sure to tune in!

Have not tuned into "Idol" for a long time; however, I am looking forward to next week's programs. It's always interesting to see how young people choose to interpret the great songs of Burt Bacharach and Hal David ..... After Dionne stated this week in a Q & A session in Palm Springs that if she could start over - she would not have chosen the career path as a performer and would have become a teacher instead. "Kinda" makes me wonder why she has chosen to serve as a "mentor" for these aspiring vocalists. Interviews with Dionne over the past year reveal how much she loves what she does and the songs that she sings (refusing to identify any favorites because she views them all as her children) ...... I'M CONFUSED!

I recall Burt serving as a mentor on "American Idol" several years ago. Perhaps an encore appearance by Burt would have been a better and more appropriate choice for next week's program! ........ There's no doubt about Burt embracing the career choice he made for himself!

Is there such a significant difference between a mentor and teacher?

And wasn't it always clear that Warwick originally wanted to become a teacher and that at some points in her career she again seriously thought about going in to teaching?

Perhaps she would have had a more comfortable life if she had gone into teaching or had some mix like Cissy had.

Ron, I watched the clip and the question context is the point. The person asked if Dionne was starting out "TODAY", would she become a professional singer. Her response made sense if you watch the clip. Especially given Dionne experience as it applies to Whitney. No matter what Whitney's demons in this era of people creating gossip like most people bake bread is it surprising that Dionne would have an issue with the music business. I dare say she is most likely disappointed with the behavior or those she has seen. Just guessing but I can see her point. And yes I will be watching AI tonight to see what 'jumps off'!!!

Hey, does anyone know why Dionne was not on American Idol last evening ? I was looking forward to it and while they did sing the songs they showed no one working with the kids.

Just out of curiosity: Have I been the only one watching this, or did it leave you all speechless?
