Star Date: Saturday, November 9, 2013
Place: “Kiawah Island Golf Resort”
Time: 8:00 P.M.
Super Nova: Mr. Burt Bacharach
“Prelude”
My wife Cheryl & I spent 2 wonderful days at the Sanctuary on Kiawah Island. What a beautiful resort with its 1st Class Restaurants, Golf, Tennis, etc… This was Earl Klugh’s 4th annual weekend of Jazz. Al Jarreau & Spyro Gyra played on Friday Night.
“Sunset Concert Facing the Atlantic Ocean”
Nothing can be finer to be in, South Carolina to see Burt Bacharach in concert!
Earl Klugh took the stage @ 7PM and did a 1 hour and 15 minute show. The entire artists for the ‘Week of Jazz’ were great. But the main reason I was there was to see Burt once again in concert!
After a ½ hour break to setup the stage, Earl Klugh introduce Burt as his musically hero! Here is a quote from Earl about Burt. “Burt is my favorite composer and I’ve been a big fan of his ever since I was 16. So much of his music made such an impact on me. This is a very special concert that’s going to happen – I can’t tell you how much it means to me that he is going to do our Weekend of Jazz!”
Well Earl had the joy to play with Burt and his band on 3 songs! As always, Donna, Josie & John gave sterling performance on their solos! The audience and those on their hotel balconies really enjoyed the whole concert that night. Burt even commented how he enjoyed the atmosphere and the resort! I lost count on the number of standing ovations Burt & his band got that night!
It was nice to see some of Burt’s endearing fans. Bonkersforburt & his # 1 fan Laura! All of us chatted during the 2 days that we were at the resort.
I was able to get some photos of Donna, Josie & John and a photo of Burt’s tour manager Sue Main.
“Epilogue”
Just an aside: Burt mention that is daughter Raleigh will be attending the University of South Carolina. I hope Burt will part of Earl Klugh’s 5th Annual Weekend of Jazz in 2014!
Well the Silver Fox (Burt) ended the program by getting everyone involved in singing, “That’s what Friends are for.”
Take care;
Vincent
