The Pointer Sisters were the first act to record songs by Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager and Anita Pointer, who sadly passed away on New Year's Eve, sang lead on 'The Love Too Good To Last'. Bacharach also arranged the horns and the strings on this track.

I believe Anita Pointer sang lead on the majority of their hits and her passing leaves Ruth as the sole surviving sister. 'The Love Too Good To Last' sounds like classic Bacharach to me now but I'm not sure if I thought that when I first heard it in the early 1980s.

Unfortunately, another musical talent leaves us.
The song "Wanting Things" had a beautiful performance by "The Pointer Sisters".
:(

Djalma, I'd forgotten just how exceptional lead singer June Pointer's performance is of this song.

pljms,

Wonderful epic arrangement!

And even at the end of this beautiful musical arrangement, the opening bars of "The Windows Of The World" were inserted!
