I'm sure we've all formed such an emotional attachment to his music that we were bound to be deeply affected by the news of his passing. When somebody of a great age dies the standard response is to say that they've had a good innings, but of course in Burt Bacharach's case the innings could never have been long enough, especially given the Indian summer in his composing that he'd been enjoying in recent times, and beautiful songs like 'With A Voice', 'The Bells Of St. Augustine' and 'Blue Umbrella' were bound to leave us wanting more.
