This program celebrates the recipients of the fourth Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, Burt Bacharach and his writing partner, Hal David. Luminaries from the songwriting and recording industry perform highlights from the Bacharach/David songbook.

This program taped at the White House will feature Dionne Warwick and a star-studded tribute to the songwriting team who penned such classic tunes as "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head," "What The World Needs Now," "I'll Never Fall in Love Again," "Walk on By" and "Alfie." Bacharach's compositions include 70 top 40 hits.

They've enjoyed a resurgence in popularity, with recent collaborations with Elvis Costello, releases on the soundtracks of all three "Austin Powers" films plus covers in an episode of "Glee.""

I totally agree with Vincent !
It`s a shame that HAL and BURT did have to wait so long before they were honored !

These two great men reached an age now............

But BURT still has those sparkle in his eyes as in his younger days

It is the same with the Hall Of Fame
HAl and BURT should be also honored THERE TOO !!!

These two great men in music meant so much for the music industry !
They have changed music in many ways forever.

HAL with his brilliant lyrics !!
And
BURT with his outstanding way of composing !!

Together they are unique and with the legacy they created music as know one did!

I'm annoyed. Why isn't Dionne being honoured and only 'featuring' in the celebration? It must be difficult for her having pulled them into the limelight by doing demos for so long etc If I were her I wouldn't touch it. Especially in his last interview Burt struggled to mention her. In my opinion she knocks the socks off all of them.

Yes, to echo what all of you had said, it is ABOUT TIME!!

And I do believe, if/when Burt & Hal are finally gifted with a Kennedy Center tribute, it should include Dionne. She is as much a part of their creative process as anyone!
