Over the course of six decades of songwriting, Burt Bacharach has teamed with an impressive cadre of collaborators — most notably Hal David but also ex-wife Carole Bayer Sager and Elvis Costello, among others. Now he’s added another to the mix.

Burt Bacharach and Daniel Tashian will be the focus of a digital program on the Grammy Museum’s website on Wednesday (Aug. 5). The two musicians have been working together on projects, including a five-song EP, Blue Umbrella, being released today (July 31).

Today, Burt Bacharach and Daniel Tashian release their a 5-song EP  “Blue Umbrella.” Recorded in Nashville, Blue Umbrella features Tashian, the writer/producer behind Kacey Musgraves’ Grammy-winning Golden Hour, on vocals and Burt on piano backed by some of the city’s finest musicians (Dennis Crouch, Fred Eltringham, Tom Bukovac, Jim Hoke). Not many pop legends in their 90s are releasing new music this year instead of fondly gazing at their trophy shelves, but Bacharach, one of the most celebrated songwriters in pop history, has found a new partner and muse in Daniel Tashian, the Nashville-based singer, songwriter and producer.
