We’d played a gig in Washington DC and afterwards two young girls, LaTanya and Darlene, came up to the car and told us it was was the best concert they’d ever seen. They said: “It was like one nation under a groove.” As soon as I heard that, I knew it had to become a song.
Burt and his band have added a second date in Italy this summer. In addition to the previously announced show in Rome on July 25, Burt will be performing at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi in Milan on July 23.

What the World Needs Now Is Love, illustrator Mary Kate McDevitt’s children’s book based on the song by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, has been selected to receive an award in the Children’s Trade category at the 2018 New York Book Show. Organized by the Book Industry Guild of New York and now in its 32nd year, this year’s New York Book Show will take place at Battery Gardens on Oct.11, 2018. Just received word that Burt will be performing at the Cerritos Center for Performing Art (above) in Cerritos, California, on Sept. 14, and at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto, California, on Sept. 22. Ticket links aren’t yet available. These dates are in addition to Burt’s previously announced performance at the Sunset Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, on Sept. 29.
