Burt the Blogger


Burt is now a blogger. Bacharach’s first column, which appeared yesterday on the political website The Huffington Post, discussed the evolution of the new political consciousness in his music.

Unlike last fall, when Burt’s comments about President Bush and the Iraq War provoked an angry conservative backlash, the readers of the Huffington Post were almost universal in their praise and encouragement. Blogging isn’t the only new media Burt has recently become involved

Burt to tour Italy

Burt will be performing in Italy this summer after all.

Burt to play San Fran and Italy

Burt wins Grammy


Burt Bacharach won the Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album for At This Time tonight at the 48th annual Grammy Awards

. It was Burt’s sixth Grammy Award. In addition, Aretha Franklin picked up the award for Best Traditional R&B Performance for her recording of Burt’s “A House Is Not A Home” on So Amazing: An All-Star Tribute to Luther Vandross. Congratulations, Burt!

Burt receives two Grammy nominations

Congratulations to Burt! Burt Bacharach received two Grammy Award nominations yesterday. Burt was nominated in the Best Pop Instrumental Performance Category for “In Our Time,” a collaboration with Chris Botti, and in the Best Pop Instrumental Album category for At This Time, his new CD. In addition, two performances of Bacharach compositions also received Grammy nominations: Seal’s recording of Walk On By was nominated in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category and Aretha Franklin’s performance of “A House Is Not A Home” from the album So Amazing: An All Star Tribute to Luther Vandross was nominated in the Best Traditional R&B Performance category. The 48th annual Grammy Awards will take place on Feb. 8, 2006, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS.
