I was lucky enough to see you on stage in Pittsburgh, 5 years ago. Your music will live on. Thank you.

Re: Bacharachs music heavy Jewish influence?
Are these simply jewish musicians doing an arrangement of Bacharach? Is it suppose to be classicaly Jewish? Not sure I got that impression. This album is part of a series about Jewish composers, Jewish musicians, Jewish culture and the question: What means "Jewish content"? So there is a ...

Re: Thinking about the genius of the tune "Promises Promises"
... I doubt Burt wrote it thinking of sub-dominants and the like - he just did it as it came. I'm not so sure about this. For sure he doesn't say: "Okay, just for fun let's have a little plagal cadence here". But this guy knows his stuff extremely well, and some of his compositorial probl...

Re: New Poll: Which recent Bacharach project are you most excited about?
I remember there was a performance planned with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (or maybe the Pittsburgh Pops, which in fact is the same orchestra) a couple of years ago. It had to be canceled because of BB's back surgery, and they never rescheduled it.
That's something I would be excited about.

Julia Holter: Don't Make Me Over
Nobody please ask me who Julia Holter is. But what I can say is: This is what a cover version should be like. She takes the song and makes it her own. And somehow there are some traces of Nico in it.

Re: "Looking With My Eyes": Hit or Miss?
The average top 40 radio listener won't get familiar with this melody, even after three listenings, and there are these strange key changes (which, for my ears, seem to be a bit arbitrary this time). That makes this composition "interesting", seen from a music-theoretical point of view, bu...

Re: most beautiful haunting melodies you ever heard?
It is way too lost in the 80s dance theme in the original. Well, the question was about haunting melodies. And the originator of this melody is ... not Coldplay. Besides this: Computer Love was recorded by an electronic band in 1981. It's a bit ridiculous to blame the track for not sounding like a ...
