Re: NEW ORIGINAL SONG WRITTEN BY TWO BIG FANS OF BURT!!!

If you had a good engineer you would really be onto something. This really captures that late 60's/early 70's Burt vibe.

Burt could have wrote all the opening songs for 70' sitcoms(RIP Mar y Tyler Moore)

Well i wasnt alive to see them during the day but its the first thing that comes to mind when i see the reruns. Mary Tyler Moore died today and silly me never knew that her theme song for her self titled show was written back then as id always heard the new mellenium pop rock version in commercials....

Re: Essra Mohawk an obscure gem similar to Laura Nyro

Because of the generation I was born into I have to do alot of my own digging and unearthing of these gems so that is commonplace for me but to know that Essra is obscure to the aficianados of her own generation is mind blowing( Laura as well). I will look into Bonnie and welcome any other references.

Lieber and Stoller stealing music or someone stealing from them?

Compare and contrast these two songs. The bass lines in the beginning sound identical for the most part. How likely is that?

Essra Mohawk an obscure gem similar to Laura Nyro

Its interesting that the world still has such obscure gems buried so deep. I discovered her name in the credits of Shangr-Las Ill never learn which i found to be very catchy and modern for a early 70s song. Lo and behold Essra turns out to have some serious songwriting chops and her artistic choices...

Re: Olympics Music

I would go as far as saying there would be no "brill building sound" as we know it without Brazilian music. I think most of the major writers seemed to have been very aware of what was in essence bossa nova in sao paolo. Of course this is just my educated theory as I was not alive back the...

This goes without sayin but basically all the brazilian traditional bossa nova type music makes me think of Bacharach.

Glenn Campbell lesser known song

Saw a program on PBS about Glenn. I always thought he should have worked with Bacharach even tho he did good to link up with Webb more than once and create some of the best easy listening country songs i have ever heard. Here is the song true grit from the John Wayne movie with the same name. https:...

I think this Barry Manilow song is very similar to Burts South American Getaway

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

I absolutely LOVE "Live Again" and I've had it on my ipod for many years now. That song is more proof of Burt's genius. I love the piano playing on that record, too... and I don't think it's Burt's playing either. We discussed this song here a number of years ago also. I don't know why it...

LaPorsha Renae beautiful rendition of House is not a Home

Beautiful live rendition of the Burt Bacharach classic with some of the most delicate ethereal musical choices I have ever heard. Its like the perfect mix of the Luther and Dionne version. Hope you guys like.
