Re: The Royalettes

The Royalettes are for me outstanding girl group, which have no typical sound for a girl group! The colloboration Royalettes/Randazzo/Weinstein is the same high level as Warwick/Bacharach/David! I feel sad about the fact that the Royalettes cut not more Albums with Randazzo/Weinstein, in my opinion...

Re: Who was the most beautiful/handsome singer during your

My generation may not have music comparable to older generations but their is beauty in abundance. 1. For me the most beautiful woman known to man was a singer named aaliyah who died just days before sep 11 in a plane crash at the age of 22. I wasnt even 16 yet and was so devastated. https://www.you...

Re: Jimmy Webb

Taking your points in reverse order: No; Burt was the more adventurous composer and Webb (along with Todd Rundgren, Roger Nichols and...hell, just about every other pop writer in the world) cited him as a decisive influence. Obviously, JW couldn`t economically tour with an orchestra but many of his...

Re: The Royalettes

Geoff, you`re right. I had forgotten a lot of this and, frankly, don`t travel down Memory Lane any more; but this is great stuff for its genre and the time. And, yes, Sheila Ross is beautiful. Glad to have finally won you over Blair. I dont create false alarm. These songs are insanely beautiful. Th...

Blair N. Cummings wrote:Sorry, Martin but I found "What Can I Do" all-too-typically sub-par for twenty-first century Bacharach.
Exactly how old is this song? Maybe I don`t want a new album, after all.

What Bacharach needs is a good lyricist. Alot of ppl underestimate what Hal brought to the table.

Who was the most beautiful/handsome singer during your day?

I often watch youtube videos and feel guilty noticing cuz some of these girls are older than my mother by now. However these same girls must have been the boyhood crushes of some of you geezers on here. So who was the hot stuff of the day???

Man could these girls make a dramatic song. One thing Mary Weiss always put her soul into a song even if she wasn't a trained vocalist.

Re: The Royalettes

Any self respecting Bacharach fan should be familiar or be in possession of the album: The Elegant Sounds of the Royalettes. They are the definition of class itself. There is not one bad song on the album. Teddy Randazzo earned his place in the discussion of the eternal greats just based off of this...

One of George "Shadow" Morton's greatest teen melodrama's....Ludwig would have been proud. (seriously) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVMJN0fKJWI "blue" I abhor soliloqy and extended spoken word in songs. The Shangri Las are one of my few exceptions. Authenicity goes a long way...
