Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach
Minnie Ripperton's Come to My Garden(the song) sounds like a late 60s Bacharach song written without Hal David You almost wouldnt be able to tell it wasnt him who composed it sart at 1:10 Bacharach influenced so many greats Thom Bell, Jimmy Webb, Charles Stepney, et al. More Bacharach influence can ...

Re: R. I. P. Lamont Dozier
As a millenlial I have such reverence for these greats that have made music that will live on forever. Those Motown songs my folks used to play on Saturday mornings(along with other greats) made an real impression on me and raised the bar for my taste in music. The Holland Bros and Mr. Dozier are pa...

David Shire and Richard Maltby Broadway tandem
i discovered them accidentally as I am not a huge theater buff but as someone who appreciates the regal sophisticated compositions of Bacharach they are def cut from the same cloth. Here are some of their tunes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LosF0Xqs0hI "next time" https://www.youtube.co...

Tim Morgons " take a look around" sounds like something that could have been on the Lost Horizon soundtrack, Alot of DAVID SHIRE AND RICHARD MALTBY songs do have a Bacharach touch to them.

Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach
Even though Richard Hawley's song about a well known lovers meeting place in Sheffield features lush extended chords, a lilting melody and in this sublime version by Tony Christie a subtle arrangement with a prominent flugelhorn part, I wouldn't say it necessarily sounds like something Bacharach mi...

Re: Mystery Song, Mystery Writers
This could pass for a Jimmy Webb inpersonating Bacharach dupe. The lyrics have Jimmy Webb's imagery rich style with that perfect balance of sanguine chord structure with melancholy theme. Whoever the mystery trio is that wrote this may well have been influenced by both him and Bacharach and may have...

Sheryl Crow performs Walk on By 2012
Love her rendition. Bacharach/David songs are always beautiful when done as close to their original form as possible. Sheryl didnt oversing or stray from the melody. Her nuances were tasteful and well done. Sorry if this is a repost.

Re: Rumer: Two More Bacharach & David Songs
On Windows of the World Rumer has that heart tugging Karen Carptenteresque solemn timbre to her voice. It really brings life to every word of the song. Wives and Lovers is a new fresh arrangment but still honors Bacharach's geniuss.

Geoff, the composer and arranger on 'I Think Of You' by The Chantelles was Keith Mansfield, best known for his work on British TV in the 60s and 70s. Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach
If Bacharach and his British admirer Tony Hatch had ever collaborated on a song in the mid-60s it might have sounded something like 'I Think Of You' as recorded by The Chantelles. Hatch would have also been responsible for the breezy arrangement and the bright, high decibel production. The clip of ...
