Aretha on Letterman

Yes, her voice has aged, but she can still bring down the house. Many of you will agree with me when I say that Aretha had one of the most spectacular voices of all time, and, like Dionne, is in a league of her own. Someone put a knock on her voice here recently and all I can say is "to each hi...

"Cats" hasn't been on Broadway for 14 years.

This is an instrumental jazz trio I played bass in, and performed a lot of Burt Bacharach songs: Our interpretation of "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bM65Hx6Wd4w Vinnie Pelletier Love it, absolutely love it! Tom Powers was a great pianist, wasn't he? You a...

More of you than you think will enjoy this, especially if you like Baroque/ counterpoint...or "South American Getaway." http://youtu.be/OwBGtgoVPLs Hey, I`m just trying to alleviate the boredom here. This explains why you like Cecil Taylor. Just sayin'. I just came from the other thread w...

Re: What's it all about Alfie?

As a dog lover, WOW!, what a phenomenally gorgeous dog that is! Totally stunning!! And Burt looks so great, too. And he's probably got some great music going on in his head there, too. And Alfie probably has got some great music going on his head as well! (I wonder if Burt had a dog when he was grow...

A shame the audio test version of 'Captives of the Heart' video has been withdrawn. Here's the recording found on Dionne Warwick's 'Aquarela Do Brasil' album and I think it's by far and away the best thing that she did with Bacharach after their mid-80s reunion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNP9...

Re: Did Rob Shrock cheat on his wife with Rumer???

I've been dying to know why Rob hasn't been with Burt. He was fired??? Would someone please tell me why he was fired??? Also, what is Rob doing now? Does he do concert dates with Dionne? I also find it hard to believe that Burt would have fired Rob due to any extracurricular affairs that Rob may hav...

Re: "Looking With My Eyes": Hit or Miss?

A BIG HIT!!! for me. An unbelievable song. The kind of song that truly separated Burt from all the other songwriters. And the kind of song that made other songwriters realize that Burt was in a league of his own. I've never heard another version other than Dionne's either. When they heard Dionne sin...

Re: Gerry Goffin...R.I.P.

Gerry Goffin was my kind of lyricist. Absolutely wonderful and, as blue says, up there with the great Hal David. Gerry wrote great songs that had great titles, such as "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?" So sad that he's gone now.

It is more or less settled that whenever Ms.Eliza gets married, the father daughter dance will be "Come touch the sun". If the invites work out well, who knows even..... might show up. He has, after all, been something of a musical parent to her. David ;-) Well, then... if that certain so...

Re: Elvis Costello on the David Letterman Show tonight, May

Okay, if you didn't see it, be glad -- you didn't miss a thing. He sang a song that he wrote called "The Last Year Of My Youth." It was obvious that Burt had nothing to do with the song because the music was dreadful. If he had ever learned anything about composing music from Burt, then he...
