Last week's Sounds of the 60s played Warwick's rarity
Brian Matthews' weekly show is my must to listen. He always picks some real good gems. Last week he played "Window Wishing", one of my favorite Bacharach songs by Dionne He commented that Dionne was frustrated at the time to sing Bacharach's ever complex songs. But I really think the chor...

Re: Only the Strong, Only the Brave
I totally agree with you.
It started with a happy and carefree mood.
But then to our surprise the chorus part is so melancholically
beautiful (and Dionne's youthful voice delivered the feeling so well)
That's why BB will remain my top fav. (besides Jimmy Webb)
composers all my life

Re: Jimmy Webb
I am a huge Webb fan too. (Hope Webb and Burt could collaborate to write a song) Ever since I heard his biggest hit MacCarthur Park in 1968 (the longest single apart from Beatles Hey Jude at that time), I was knocked off. Come to think of it, he was not yet 20 year old when he wrote and arranged th...

I love the song
Lesley died a few days ago (67 years of age)
Here's the original

BBC radio2 Sound of the 60s 3 in a row
Last weekend's show "3 in a row" chose 3 BB rarities done by English artists. They are: If I never get to love you (Marilyn Faithful) A girl like you (Adam Faith) Everybody needs someone to love (Cliff Richard) The first two were quite raw (didn't sound like Bacharach's at first listen) T...

Re: Burt and Carole in the 80`and 90`era
Being grew up listening to music in the 60s/70s, I very much preferred music from that era But there were some good moments from years after. For instance, That album by Carole Bayer Sager at around 1981 is also my all time fav. Also, the song from Isn't She Great by Vanessa Williams is really beaut...

Re: Tony Hatch 'Britain's Burt Bacharach' is 70 today
Let me add one of my favorite Tony Hatch/Jackie Trent songs, "Lazy Day", which I only discovered just last year, though I've been a fan of theirs since the 60s. It's an unusual piece, but truly merits the adjective "haunting". It's a musical evocation of that sense of timelessne...

Re: BBC's 'Sounds of the 60s'
In yesterday's show (20 June), Brian played a beautiful version of the song People sung by Dionne Warwick. The arrangement of this song is so Bacharachish. It's by far the best version of this much sung song I have heard (for my taste at least) Here's an MV made with some good oneliners http://hk.v...

Re: BBC's 'Sounds of the 60s'
Another good thing about this radio programme is that it often plays some "one hit wonder" hits which are really good (btw , there were so many good songs in the 60s that even many obscure songs are not bad at all ) and many of them are fun too. For instance, there's one guy called Buzz C...
