Re: Scott Walker 1943 - 2019

English veteran singer Cliff Richard sang Make It Easy On Yourself and The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore during his 1974 Japan tour..
Not a bad medley at all.

Analysing how 2 versions of ALFIE were produced

Mike Batt (a musician/producer/arranger) from the UK has a radio programme in BBC Radio 2 which talked about the arrangement/orchestration of songs. Re: Was it Dionne or was it Burt/Hal?

My personal opinion is Aretha and Dionne are totally different in style and genre. Dionne sings "white" music
and Aretha belongs to the "black" (soul music) music market... Isn't Aretha being called Queen of Soul..

Yes.. Jose Mari Chan is not only a good singer but a talented songwriter too. His taste in music is also superb and have you heard of his duet with Jack Jones , singing the Bacharach/David's song Wives & Lovers, live in Manila only last month Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JoNSAb6rS0

Cover version of I Might Frighten Her Away

How about a Filipino Chinese ballad singer singing this song from The Lost Horizon
(a duet with another Filipino Janet Basco)
I think it is as good as the original..

Here is a beautiful ballad by an English girl called Laurie Briggs who's in The Karpenters (a tribute group of The Carpenters)
It does not sound like Karen in this song.. But simply awesome

Last week's Sounds of the 60s played Warwick's rarity

Brian Matthews' weekly show is my must to listen. He always picks some real good gems. Last week he played "Window Wishing", one of my favorite Bacharach songs by Dionne He commented that Dionne was frustrated at the time to sing Bacharach's ever complex songs. But I really think the chor...
