Re: Something about "Turkey Lurkey Time" renditions...

You just pointed out what may have been what most disturbed me in the City Center production. I also noticed it in other live presentations. Once you hear how it should be, it is like in these other versions the musicians killed time for a while. It falls flat, and I would feel as if I had been left...

Re: pictures of Burt

Also, besides the surgery and, I guess, relative inactivity, Burt had to travel cross country for this. Long trip, jet lag, and possible difficulty finding a good position for the back.

Re: pictures of Burt

Ron, thanks so much. Your point of view is very welcome and most thoughtful, IMHO.

Also, his mind is extremely sharp and, not unrelated, he is plugging his new play (while keeping from giving possibly undue credit to the current PP production).

Re: Reviews of Promises Promises Revival

There are these guys, and then there are some other people who actually know a thing or two about *music*, such as John Zorn (you've all seen this, but never mind): "BURT BACHARACH is one of the great geniuses of American popular music... A trailblazer. A questioner. An unbridled genius.... BAC...

Re: Promises, Promises Revived...

Excellent review, if I may say so -- especially without having attended the show. I have the feeling that I could agree with everything. But I wonder if I like the added emphasis on the sad aspects of the play. I think people would be better off watching a thouroughly entertaining show and leaving t...

For the likely answer:

Re: Promises Promises Review

I'm all for cutting people some slack. But now I think the pendulum may have swung too much in the other direction, and I would like to add my 2 cents. I guess Clive Barnes was no Richard Rodgers, but that genius composer seems to have seen the writing on the wall. Ira Gershwin surely knew how to pi...

Great news. Thanks! Also: I've Got My Mind Made Up Waiting for Charlie (To Come Home) Come In Ogni Ora Nice feature of the site: one can use PayPal. (I'm inclined at first to download the mp3 version, should it really become available, in order to avoid duties.) I really think I've Got My Mind Made ...
