Re: Isaac Hayes passed away

This is a sad day. I am fortunate for having been aware of his work since I was very young and for having been able to attend one of his concerts. May he rest in peace. Now We're One is one of my favorite compositions. Also from that brilliant side A of the Truck Turner soundtrack: http://www.youtub...

Burt seems pleased with the public's response and the orchestra seems happy with...him?

Re: Your choice for a beautiful Burt co-writer hookup?

I wouldn't have known where to look for several songs I like a lot if it weren't for these recent references to Todd Rundgren.
Thanks!

Re: Your choice for a beautiful Burt co-writer hookup?

I think burt and Stevie Wonder speak the same language, so they would do great together. Among the not-yet mentioned I'd add Ivan Lins, Milton Nascimento and Michel Legrand. A young Brazilian singer-composer who seems to have some Bacharach in his blood is Jorge Vercílo. They'd be up to somethng big...

Re: So what did you think of the Bethesda show last night?

A friend of mine wrote this: [my nickname] I thought of you because I saw Burt in concert last night. It was AWESOME! The best of the two concerts that I have seen with him. He still kicks asses even though he just turned 80... I was so pleased to be there. It was in Maryland. See: http://www.strath...

Re: Serene's assessment of Who Is Gonna Love Me

Who Is Gonna Love Me? is one of my favorite songs. As someone once said about it: achingly beautiful. That's how I felt about it long before I could understand English.

It seems so damned perfect that I'm not surprised it was not a hit. If it was any better I wouldn't care for it myself...

Congratulations to Mr. John Pagano. I've listened to him live and was very impressed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burt to come to Brazil in October 2008? http://blogacordes.blogspot.com/2008/04/burt-bacharach-far-shows-no-b...

Re: Buried bits of Burt

It's in there alright. Loud and clear.

I also notice parts that seem to have been inspired by Reach Out.

BTW, was Breakout their greatest hit? Is there another song of theirs that's particularly interesting?

Re: here come the birthday wishes!

Because Mr. Bacharach has probaly done more for my well-being -- or at least for my _joie de vivre_ -- than any other individual, I am delighted to join all others who wish him a very happy birthday tomorrow.
I certainly wish all the best to him and his family in everything they endeavor to do.

As long as it sucks as much as this one, I'm ok with it. :)

(On My Way)

Besides, as far as I'm concerned Burt could only "suck" if compared to himself and the huge expectations he inspires.
