Re: Magic Moments: The Definitive Burt Bacharach
Very nice list, Sara! Speaking as someone who was involved with Rhino's 1998 box, I'd like to point out that a large amount of the songs on your second list *were* included on our set. And it's hard to take any claims of definitive-ness seriously on a Bacharach collection that excludes "24 Hour...

Re: Martini & Rossi commercials? (re: Loser's Lounge)
Sorry I missed you, Vincent! I got there late and had to crouch in front of the stage - a great view but uncomfortable! Your review pretty much sums it up - a great night, really fun. I spoke to the musicians afterwards and they mentioned you had stopped by... we'll meet up next time!

Hey Vincent - can't switch my seat at this point... maybe you'll see me waiting in line? I'm pretty tall. I'll look for you.
And finally - someone put up one of the Angie & Burt Martini & Rossi ads on YouTube!

Re: The beautiful B. Wilson 1965-1966
Great subject, folks. I've always thought the pinnacle of Brian Wilson's worship and imitation of the Burt Bacharach sound can be heard in Pet Sounds's "Let's Go Away For Awhile" Click here for a nice little YouTube version of the song, featuring the audio of Brian putting the song togethe...

Re: Martini & Rossi commercials? (re: Loser's Lounge)
Thanks guys! It took a while, but we finally figured out that the M&R commercials are not in the Burt BIOGRAPHY - they're in Angie's. Joe was able to get a copy, today I think (I hope), but don't know if he'll have time to review and incorporate before the LL shows this weekend . We'll see... Vi...

Re: One Less Bell to Answer(the bomb)
That "It Takes a Thief" episode was called "To Sing a Song of Murder" (originally televised February 23, 1970) and starred The Fifth Dimension. That definitely preceded the song's November 1970 heyday, so yes, the TV show appearance helped spur the song to its success! Kinda biza...

Martini & Rossi commercials? (re: Loser's Lounge)
Help! The good folks at the Loser's Lounge are preparing for their 15th Anniversary show - one of their legendary salutes to Burt Bacharach - and they desperately need to take a look at the '70s-era Martini & Rossi commercials that Burt and Angie used to do. Does anyone have a copy that they can...

Here is a link (http://home.earthlink.net/~kfp/) to audio and video sound clips of the Ch. 7 New York 4:30 movie! You can hear the theme used for that, Vincent. And yes, "Nikki" was used for the ABC evening movies.

I'm afraid this isn't a good move
I have to agree with igtmfo33. I love Burt and his music and will always stand up for him; on the other hand, allowing himself to be sold as a cute "old" celebrity, like Charo, demeans him. I mean, I'm afraid the reaction of this blogger (from the link provided above) will prove to be typi...

Gene Can Break Our Hearts
I just heard the news today... oh boy. I had the pleasure of interviewing Gene for THE LOOK OF LOVE box set liner notes, and he was fascinating guy to talk to... plus I'm so grateful that I chance to see him put on a KILLER show in Atlantic City several years ago (the same weekend Burt and Dionne we...
