Re: Thanks for everything.
Heartbroken. Was planning to post an old vid, now I know Burt will never see it, and that hurts. Gave all to the end, reminiscent of Jeff Beck. We'll never see the like of Burt's music quality and output again. So appreciative thank you Burt.

Re: Scott Walker 1943 - 2019
Scott had the melodic gift - Scott3 (favorite) and Scott4 (next best) .. very rare melodic gift - but didn't really pursue it after these records. Very Burt like, Inspired probably a lot by Burt (as were most in the 60s), but wonderful music like him and there weren't many. Les Reed passed a few mon...

Re: New Cover of "The Balance of Nature"
Very nice thanks for posting. That bridge I guess you would call it on Balance of Nature - ain't it pretty? .. It has that unexpected change in it that is kind of the hallmark of the best of Burt .. beautiful and kind of knocks you over too with its originality. That Dionne / Warners record so very ...

Thinking about the genius of the tune "Promises Promises"
Greetings all I haven't posted here or even looked in for so long .. and I see posts aren't so frequent as they used to be .. Hearing the above tune on radio other day a rarity .. Burt always said time changes weren't a problem, if the were natural from the melody. If time changes are exciting to li...

Re: Burt could have wrote all the opening songs for 70' sitcoms(RIP Mar y Tyler Moore)
I think Sonny Curtis is overlooked (wrote the MTM theme) .. He's always been a little under the radar. "I Fought The Law" (Bobby Fuller Four) ... "Walk Right Back" (Everlys) .,. "The Straight Life" (Bobby Goldsboro) are three icons. The last is chock full of hooks in a ...

Re: Revisiting Tony Hatch's "You Better Come Home"
Another apology, I wanted to edit post from a few minutes ago, edit not available on this board apparently. But because this post is at the top of the forum, I don't mind so much redacting or retracting (which is it, the words sound the same?) Long as my replies are at the top of this board, and my ...

Re: Revisiting Tony Hatch's "You Better Come Home"
Sorry everyone, if you've been reading my long post here, well let me correct: I got it wrong. The best youtube version of this song: in-sync, best quality vid and audio, I recently found under "Fifth Dimension" instead of Marilyn McCoo. Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMF5eIyMsEc An...

Re: Burt with Marion McPartland
I think I have the answer to why Burt isn't covered much by jazzers. Let's start by the great Frank Zappa, who said in his wonderful autobiography (which I think you can download for free nowadays) .. ... that the familiar chord sequence 2-5-1 was the scourge of Western Civilization. Then I think of...

Re: Revisiting Tony Hatch's "You Better Come Home"
Oh no sorry another bump. Many of you guys/girls have heard Marilyn McCoo's "Loves Lines Angles and Rhymes" but Just to bump this wonderful tune. Written by Dorothea Joyce, who nowadays is a spiritual woman in New Mexico, active in finding your spiritual stuff if you are looking for it. Go...

Re: Revisiting Tony Hatch's "You Better Come Home"
Bumping my own post. I hope the following great songwriters get together for a confab soon: Burt: age 85. Tony Hatch: age 73. Paul McCartney: age 71 (yes, can you believe it). Maybe Elvis Costello on the lyrics ... once again (and am I right that the last, best, McCartney was "My Brave Face&quo...

Revisiting Tony Hatch's "You Better Come Home"
To me, there's not much better pop tune than "You Better Come Home" by Petula Clark, written by Tony Hatch. ... To me it's up there with Burt's most dramatic and most musical best like "I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself." This tune, recorded either end of 1964 or early 196...

That "greatest generation" thing. Great courage and sacrifice, and great art a part of that somehow. A fine poet. We shant see the likes of him again.

Re: "Go With Love" and "Who Is Going to Love Me"
Reply to my own post, sorry. I don't know if these songs have been done "live" in decades. with either Burt or Dionne. No matter. They stand, greatness, with so many others. When I want Burt greatness over the last decade, I almost put in the Burt/Elvis Costello VCR at the Sony Studio, I t...

"Go With Love" and "Who Is Going to Love Me"
Hi everyone. Listening last weekend to all Scepter LPs ... These two enormous Burt songs, and Dionne vocals, stick to my head above all others ... Both of them neglected except among Burt/Dionne fans like us ... ever on the radio, ever? .... I don't think so. It's 110 in Dallas today, and my fevered...

(sorry I have them all already ... ) It would be nice to listen to them on your stereo. So buy some and keep this resource going. :) Honestly I should just send a big chec...
