Tracks of my Years
This tribute is mostly Burt talking through some of his favorite songs by other artists.
Burt's participation in the "Tracks of my Years" series is from 2005 but I (for 1) had not heard it before.

Desert Island Discs
I usually enjoy Desert Island Discs and Steven Spielberg was an especially good listen.
There are two Bacharach songs amongst his 8 selections (no spoilers) - although he made no acknowledgement of Burt....

Re: Im obsessed with Brenda Reid from The Exciters voice!!
I was going through the Remember Us? album.
I particularly enjoyed the slower ones: So Long, Goodnight and Drama of Love.
Also gave the Brenda & Herb (she and her husband) album - IN HEAT AGAIN ! a spin.
Mid 70's disco. The angst may have gone but she could still blow !

Re: New Bacharach & Tashian songs.
Interesting Blair's comments about Daniel Tashian's voice, Elvis Costello's voice. Agree re- Tashian... I was reflecting this week how Burt is so associated with great singers - yet the Herb Alpert (no vocal pedigree) version of This Guy's in Love With You is so affecting. It's a lot to do with the ...

Re: Story Behind the Song: Raindrops Keep Fallin'
Fascinating topic. Growing up in the UK in the 70's I avidly watched / listened as the vagaries of the market(?) dictated the weekly charts. And looking back now, we are recognizing the quality of some songs that, for whatever reason, did not satisfy the needs of the market. If some pop music histor...

Shame Burt's Louis Armstrong impersonation wasn't a little stronger:

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)
This is one from Ennio Morricone I hadn't heard before it came up on my Spotify Discover Weekly.
I know the classics but beyond those, where do you start exploring his massive back catalog ?
Even the blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut !

Re: Waltzes
I do love a waltz... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOl2BEvFtOA Is anyone familiar with Kamasi Washington ? This was a selection by Zoe Ball on a recent Desert Island Discs. I really recommend the Desert Island Discs podcast if anyone is struggling to fill the hours of self isolation. They have an ...

Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach
Somehow when I first downloaded Come To My Garden, I didn't get this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44LF0BwDsO8 ...so a very pleasant surprise to find it when playing via Spotify recently. There is some echo of Promises, Promises here...The entire album is full of fantastic sonic moments that...
