Re: Magic Moments: The Definitive Burt Bacharach
Unfortunately, I believe this has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2009.

Re: Your choice for a beautiful Burt co-writer hookup?
Burt has collaborated with Tim Rice on at least two occasions: "Walking Tall" as recorded by Lyle Lovett, and "Who'll Speak For Love" as recorded by Trijntje Oosterhuis and reprised by Burt himself on the QVC bonus disc for his upcoming album.

Re: Anyone think it might happen...
While I wouldn't hold my breath, I wouldn't think there'd be anything foolhardy about a Bacharach/David/Warwick reunion, at least for one track. Their last work together was for the ISN'T SHE GREAT? soundtrack, and while I quite liked "On My Way", its success was hardly the high note the r...

Re: Your choice for a beautiful Burt co-writer hookup?
Thankfully Mann & Weil haven't completely retired; they recently premiered their long-aborning MASK musical at the Pasadena Playhouse, and a few years back, performed an off-Broadway musical entitled THEY WROTE THAT? which was an enjoyable retrospective of their past works. Like Burt, it's hard ...

Re: Here's to the 10 year anniversary of "Painted From Memory"
And how better to celebrate PFM's 10th than for Burt & Elvis to reunite to write/produce that album for Diana Krall that Burt mentioned in an interview some months back? Here's hoping that it's still happening...while Burt has written some wonderful songs of late with Tonio K, his work with Cost...

For a more recent Webb take on Bacharach, check out his "Why Do I Have To..." from Jimmy's 2005 album TWILIGHT OF THE RENEGADES. This great track shows that Jimmy hasn't totally abandoned his Bacharach influence!

Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach
Richard Harris' sublime "If You Must Leave My Life" is another fine homage to Bacharach courtesy the magnificent Mr. Webb. Anyone here not familiar with this track should duly check it out.

Film Score Monthly/Screen Archives & their affiliates frequently release deluxe editions of classic soundtracks including demos, alternate takes, etc. etc. Perhaps everyone on this list should contact them about the possibility of considering an expanded LOST HORIZON to include not only the song...

Re: Burt's Live CD...At Last!
I'm shocked that the new CD will not include "For The Children"; for me, a new Burt composition would have been the major selling point! This is too bad, since I'm not sure via which other project Burt will release it...

Hey Noah, Mel Torme's "Desperate Hours" is available on Rhino's MEL TORME AT THE MOVIES. Peggy Lee's "Uninvited Dream" can be found on Capitol's Peggy Lee box set THE SINGLES COLLECTION (available as individual song downloads from the usual suspects) as well as on Collector's Cho...

"What Can I Do"
Anybody else heard the first released Bacharach composition of 2008, Irma Thomas' reading of "What Can I Do"? It was released this Tuesday on Irma's SIMPLY GRAND disc for Rounder, penned by Bacharach & Tonio K. Musically, it's much in the vein of Burt's more recent work, a moody, somew...

Off the top of my head, Noah: "I Say A Little Prayer" (with Dionne, in a medley with "...Phoenix") "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" "Close To You" "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" "Walk On By" "The Windows of the World" &...

Re: Isaac Hayes passed away
Would that someone would finally release on CD Isaac and Dionne's A MAN AND A WOMAN concert album! While I know it isn't held in high regard by many compared to the other outstanding achievements of their respective careers, it still has a number of highlights for fans of both artists!
