Re: Listen to Dionne's New Single
The following link will take you to a link for a particularly damning article written by Lance Loud which appeared in "The Advocate" on January 24, 1994 entitled 'That's What Funds Are For' regarding The Warwick Foundation and Guy Draper. This is probably the most potent article explaining...

Re: Hal David Tribute with Burt, Stevie, Elvis, Jackie...
Wawick's handlers apparently couldn't obtain security clearance in time for her to appear at the White House for the Bacharach tribute. Nothing sinister about her not being there. As far as the paranoia goes, Dionne is in demand all over the world these days. Although her participation in these even...

Re: Listen to Dionne's New Single
maestrofan, I believe Warwick's intentions were good with the foundation; however it was her extravagance at the expense of the foundation which was an issue. Guy Draper who has a history of this type of thing handled a lot of the finances for the foundation...so why would she get back into bed with...

Re: Listen to Dionne's New Single
Gillanddon, Maybe I can put this in perspective. Dionne was not just another celebrity. She had a stature in the recording and entertainment industry that was second to none prior to 1991. Then came the foundation scandal and following on the heels of that, the PFN. For her to associate herself with...

Re: Listen to Dionne's New Single
Jerry, If only the pot bust had the effect on her career that the author of the article had hoped. No one roots harder for Dionne Warwick to regain the stature she lost at her own hand than those of us who have known and supported her throughout her entire career. However, she seems to be unable to ...

Re: Listen to Dionne's New Single
This explains far better than I can the almost betrayal many in the public felt about Dionne's fall from grace in the USA. Western Sieve - High on Dionne Warwick She'll beat the weed charge with no worries, but will she ever really be free? By Joey Sweeney Add Comment | By the time you read this, it...

Re: Listen to Dionne's New Single
Ron, many rabid fans (fanatics!) who haven't been with Dionne for the entire 50 years of her career don't understand. You get it. They assume those who are critical of Dionne's choices these days don't appreciate her. She's a remarkable woman who has accomplished probably more than any other female ...

Re: Listen to Dionne's New Single
On second look, this isn't bad at all especially after hearing the dreadful B side of this single, Always Something There to Remind Me. Dionne can still manage to sound good. I am betting that this track was produced by Phil Ramone and ASTTRM was produced by Damon Elliott...the production values are...

Re: Updated Release Dates For "Now"
Oh well, this project has turned out not to be what was originally promoted to be. I think the old tracks were used to pad some things already in the can along with 4 "new" recordings produced by Phil Ramone so that Dionne would have something to release for her 50th. I can't believe that ...

Herb Alpert on "This Girl's in Love With You"
HA: You know, certainly, I feel good about things that have happened in my life, and with respect to music, I think the thing I'm most proud of from an ego point of view is that I'm the only artist to have a number one record as a vocalist and as an instrumentalist. MR: Oh, can we also go into that ...

Re: Dionne Warwick ...... "NOW"
Ok this isn't exactly all hell breaking loose as it's only a song but here goes. For me, it's disappointing to put it mildly and makes me a little sad. The production sounds little better than a karaoke track to me. I think that was one thing that was so exciting about the Cahn album; it was recorde...

Tony Hatch was the driving force behind Petula Clark's comeback in the mid-sixties and is responsible for her hits Don't Sleep in the Subway and Downtown among many others. Hatch was married to Jackie Trent.

Re: Pianist on Bacharach's recordings
Jerry, interesting point regarding the organic whole of Dusty in Memphis and so true. Most of Dionne's 1960s albums, as great as they were, were stitched together from her single releases and "B" sides and sometimes lacked continuity but that can be forgiven because of the classic tunes by...

Re: Pianist on Bacharach's recordings
Love Dusty and am speaking of "also ran" in terms of commerciality only, not artistically. Janis Joplin bragged in 1969 that it was an honor for her to come in third behind Dionne and Aretha! Unfortunately, Dusty was mismanaged throughout most of her career and didn't find the great commer...

Re: Pianist on Bacharach's recordings
Jerry, Daydreamin' is one of my favorite recordings by Aretha. It was a little of a departure for her. It was really more reminiscent of something Dionne might have recorded in the early 70s. I grew up listening to Aretha's recordings for Columbia from about 1960 through about 1966 and the Aretha th...
