Re: Library of Congress "Gershwin Medal"

Amen Blair, I am with you on that! Preach it buddy! BTW, I bet the most gratifying thing for Burt and Hal was to watch those tunes done by Dionne and others race up the charts...that is the biggest reward and award...all that other fabricated crap is guilding the lily. When Dionne's I Say A Little P...

Re: What we need ...

LOL! Blair, reminds me of the Peggy Lee tune "Is That All There Is"...I do like the clips but since there is such little new material, the clips have become filler and place holders. The rapture over Lost Horizon is too...hated the movie, liked the score but some of it was treacle...it was...

Rare Dionne from 1963-Don't Make Me Over

Very rare clip of 22 year old Dionne lip-syncing to Don't Make Me Over in 1963. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDblF-J6qvY And Dionne from 1964 Anyone Who Had A Heart...this time a live nightclub performance although the transfer speed of the video made Dionne sound as though she was high on helium....

Re: Dionne - Window Wishin' France 1966

An interesting clip but not a great performance of Window Wishing...probably the only performance committed to video of the tune. The arrangement is terrible and Dionne sounds so nasal in this clip as well. Poor sound production is apparent. Hate to be so critical but Dionne was much better looking ...

Re: Ed Sullivan Show-Promises Promises, Dionne Warwick 1968

CBS Television City was in NYC at the time and was in the same building as Scepter. The building's address was 254 W. 54th Street and was later the home of the infamous "Studio 54". I can't remember what floor the Scepter offices were on but the 8th floor sticks in my mind for some reason....

Re: Ed Sullivan Show-Promises Promises, Dionne Warwick 1968

Yes, I know the Sullivan Show was live in the eastern and central time zones...but taped for play on the West Coast...which is why all the shows were taped for posterity. Dionne screwed up the intro a little but the Sullivan Band obviously couldn't handle Promises, Promises...and couldn't keep up wi...

Ed Sullivan Show-Promises Promises, Dionne Warwick 1968

In this rare clip, Dionne looks lovely singing her latest single release Promises, Promises on the Ed Sullivan Show telecast on Sunday, October 6, 1968. By the way, Dionne was pregnant at the time this performance was taped and would deliver her first son, Damon Leland Elliott on January 18, 1969. h...

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

Dionne allegedly broke down in the studio when recording His House and Me...was in the throes of a nasty divorce at the time so that's understandable...such emotion comes through in her performance. A great tune! BTW, Dionne's back catalog is so vast that she could do a concert of tunes like these w...

Hank, the tune is also available on Itunes and Amazon as an mp3 along with almost all Dionne's Bacharach catalog.

Re: "Who Get's The Guy"

Look at Dionne's body language during the clip...she's holding a flower and toward the middle of the clip, she starts to pick petals off the flower she's holding, as in "he loves me, he loves me not" and holds them in her palm...she then spills the petals into her lap...she knew how to sin...

Re: "Who Get's The Guy"

In this live performance of the tune, Dionne's subdued performance brings out a melancholy and vulnerability that's not evident in the recording. She also sang the tune on the Ed Sullivan Show in March 1971. This is indeed a very rare clip and one that hasn't been seen publically since 1971 until it...

Re: Bacharach, David and Warwick – three strikes against the

By now, the RRHOF is so irrelevent it doesn't matter...it would be nice to see Dw/BB/HD inducted but it's no big deal anyway. It has not really done much for any of those inducted.
