Re: Behavior like this can turn a person off
There is nothing "personal" I have written here that can't be verified in the public accounts published during Warwick's career. I am not nor have I ever been an employee of Warwick and have no "axe to grind" with her personally or professionally. My assessments are sometimes bru...

Re: Favorite Warwick/Bacharach/David Studio Album?
For me, it's hard to pick one album from her Scepter days but Here I Am is in a tie with I'll Never Fall In Love Again for my personal favourite. Let Me Go To Him and Paper Mache are wonderful Bacharach/David compositions and she soars on Let Me Go To Him. In Between Heartaches has long been one of ...

Re: Behavior like this can turn a person off
If that is the case, she should retire. Burt is in the twilight of his career and his life as well and he has never behaved anything other than graciously to his fans; a true class act of the first magnitude and enjoying the hell out of performing and living! Warwick's poor behaviors are nothing new...

Re: Behavior like this can turn a person off
What diva worshiping BS! Gary Keys is no D-lister but a respected documentarian and producer. You applaud Warwick's treatment of "the little people"? The event producer is a bum for asking her to move the microphone closer? How bloody dare he ask "the inventor of the microphone" ...

Re: Behavior like this can turn a person off
All of this is relevant. Sinatra and Holiday are both dead. Warwick, still living, will not achieve the kind of credibility and recognition for creating her art until she is long gone. She has taken away from the very music that put her where she is. She has cheapened and tarnished her musical legac...

Re: Dionne Files for Bankruptcy
Well said maestrofan! Many of the "defenders" of Warwick here sound almost like the enablers she has surrounded herself with that have been so detrimental to her. Kudos to those true friends of hers such as Gladys Knight, Leslie Uggams, the GREAT Nancy Wilson and others who have been busti...

What an awesome venue for the concert! I can understand why Burt was blown away by the surroundings in Ivins. It's a beautiful spot. I wish I could have been there!

Re: Another member of the BB/HD/DW musical family passed on
Actually Phil didn't engineer "San Jose". That was Ed Smith. Ed duct-taped the microphone directly to the bass drum for that totally unique introduction to "San Jose." "San Jose" was the last recording the team did at Bell Sound. From Wikipedia: Do You Know the Way to S...

Re: Another member of the BB/HD/DW musical family passed on
Phil Ramone was an intergral part of the wonderful sound Bacharach achieved at A & R Studios with the acts he recorded there, mainly BJ Thomas and Dionne Warwick. Phil was a crack engineer and Bacharach, until he met Phil, was always in the control room during the mix. With Phil, who was so adep...

Re: Dionne Files for Bankruptcy
Enormous, I respect your response but how do you explain Dionne's tax issues and poor money management and poor judgement going back for decades? I don't believe DIonne is stupid by any means, but she's never taken advice from anyone regarding her finances and her money has always essentially burned...

Re: Dionne Files for Bankruptcy
Concerts, she has to pay her band, their union dues, travel etc. What's left is hers and it not much. She might get a $35,000 to $50,000 guarantee for an appearance in some larger venues especially overseas but once she pays for everything else there's little left. She claims in her filing that she ...

Re: Dionne Files for Bankruptcy
Gillanddon you are right about how much Dionne has given of herself (also while taking care of herself i.e. luxury accomodations for herself and entourage, etc) but 25 years ago she had the respect in the industry to move mountains for charity and even her extravagences were small compared to the mi...

Re: Burt loves Rumer - Do any of you?!
Rumer reminds me of Karen Carpenter only better. Karen's voice, although lovely, was rather bland and it was only later in her career that she got to show some emotion...Rumer doesn't have the blandness and I believe her tone is even more full-bodied than Karen's. Karen's voice had little power but ...

Re: Burt loves Rumer - Do any of you?!
Rumer has a wonderful voice and she sings Bacharach second to none, except maybe Dionne. Although she doesn't have the same subdued drama, emotion, and tension that Dionne's vocals brought to Bacharach, she, like Dionne, is all about the song and the vocal being an instrument to highlight the song. ...
