Blair:

Talk about a "buried treasure" ........... I had never heard that one before! ............................. Inspired me to pull out my Glen Campbell "All The Best" compilation comprised of 25 tracks (7 by Jimmy Webb)

Thanks,

Ron

Re: Starbucks' new Bacharach compilation CD

Joe: Great news? ... YES! ... and one of the best overviews of a compilation project I have ever read. (Accurate and Concise) ... The "coffee house crowd" may be on the brink of discovering what we have known for years - nothing compares to Bacharach's body of work! Thanks for posting thes...

Re: Starbucks' new Bacharach compilation CD

Although I am not familiar with VVN Music sales rankings - it's quite impressive! .... Perhaps such a product will spark further interest in Bacharach's music. .... Hope it makes it to the Billboard charts!

Re: beautiful song for a cold day

Steve: Couldn't agree more - beautiful interpretation! ..... Reminds me of something Dionne stated in an interview several years after the release of the Bacharach / Costello "Painted From Memory" CD. When asked how she liked it - she said that she hadn't listened to it! ..... Is that unbe...

Re: Starbucks' new Bacharach compilation CD

Haven't seen one of these compilations in a long long time! ...... Obviously targeting the casual listener - I doubt there is anything collectable here!

Re: little heard song, on TV yesterday

Blair: .... Let's go for "3 times"! ......... Jackie DeShannon certainly could have handled "Send Me No Flowers" very well. .... She along with Dionne were - in my opinion - the only two female vocalists who could skillfully interpret Burt's music back in the day. One notable exc...

Re: little heard song, on TV yesterday

Steve:

You're absolutely right - unmistakably Burt! ........ Light and bouncy and for me - somewhat reminiscent of "The Bell That Couldn't Jingle" - a great little song (still can not figure out why that gets so little airplay during the Christmas season - virtually none!)

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

Blair! ..... I'm beginning to think that 2012 may find us agreeing more and more! ...... Nikki Jean has that "certain something" in her voice, looks and presence that when combined with the creative skills of Burt & Hal could produce an impressive result! ...... Although many - includi...

Enormous! Re: "Moonraker" ....... At the risk of being accused of having all my taste in my mouth - I have always liked the song and Shirley Bassey's performance. ....... I know many many songs are written in a day or less; however, the fact that John and Hal were given just 24 hours to co...

Re: any news about "Gift of the Magi"

I like the song "Just Walk Away" after listening to it just once; however, the only way I can fully appreciate it is to imagine how Dionne could have interpreted it with the voice she possessed 30 years ago. .......... TRY IMAGINING THAT!
