Re: favorite version of "Alfie"?

Steve: Both Burt's and Dionne's recordings of this classic remain the definitive versions for me; however, Dionne's sister Dee Dee did an admirable interpretation as well (included on the " Dee Dee Warwick - the collection" CD released in 2005). ...... Haven't been able to connect with man...

Re: Michael Jackson Producers Reject Burt Bacharach Arrangement

Michael did some recognizable background vocals on Carole's Burt Bacharach/Carole Bayer Sager album/CD entitled "Sometimes Late At Night". .... As previously stated in this forum - this is a favorite of mine even though Carole's vocals are thin (she's singing her stuff and I really like it...

Re: Always Something There To Remind Me-1st recorded by Warwick!

BachtoBacharach: - We won't have to speculate much longer on what she reveals in her autobiography - Barnes and Noble informed me that my copy of Dionne's "My Life As I See It" was shipped today. I do hope that she does open up about some of the more controversial stories that have surface...

Re: Always Something There To Remind Me-1st recorded by Warwick!

BachtoBacharach: You make some great points! - it probably was a stretch to make some of those assumptions; however, I still find it astounding that Dionne had not at least listened to "Painted From Memory" - if for no other reason than - CURIOUSITY ............. after all - she is unquest...

Re: Always Something There To Remind Me-1st recorded by Warwick!

scotsgreg: Yours is one of the most articulate posts I've seen on this subject which has been addressed a number of times here on the discussion forum. We can all relate to listening to some of our NOW FAVORITE songs and albums for the first time and not being favorably impressed. My most recent rec...

Re: Always Something There To Remind Me-1st recorded by Warwick!

Hank: Couldn't agree with you more re: "Who Is Gonna Love Me" - one of the very best BB/HD/DW recordings ever! "Always Something There To Remind Me" is one of my least favorites - although I do like the medley version on Dionne's "Hot, Live and Otherwise" double album (...

Re: Dionne's Vocal Range

"blue" Many thanks - I recently attempted to find it on YouTube and missed it! ......... I'll try again for the "I Didn't Mean to Love You" concert performance. ..... Studio version is terrific and I remain puzzled by Warner Brothers decision to pull that single shortly after its...

Re: Dionne's Vocal Range

Dionne's solo performance of "Finder Of Lost Loves" in concert (recently removed from YouTube) is one of my favorites! ...... Same goes for "I Didn't Mean to Love You" Pablo. .... Stellar performances in concert as well as the studio versions.

Re: Kennedy Center Honorees

Recognition is flattering; however, I tend to agree with Blair ........... these tributes, awards, honorary degrees, etc etc have gotten out of hand and lost much of their meaning. I prefer to focus on enjoying the music and supporting their efforts. ....... The "politics" of what goes on ...

Re: Kennedy Center Honorees

I cannot think of a better "triple header honoree" than Burt, Hal & Dionne! - The world's greatest "musical trinity"! ...... Wouldn't you love to know what goes on during this annual decision making process?

Re: Joe Kloess

Both Joe Kloess and his predecessor Joe Mele did an excellent job (not necessarily Burt's arrangements - but their own) Current conductor Kathy Rubbico brings a fresh level of enthusiasm to Dionne's concerts! All 3 of them worked for a long time with Dionne who is a truly knowledgeable musical profe...

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

Another duet with Warwick & Thomas - "They Don't Give Medals To Yesterday's Heroes" - is one of the bonus tracks on Dionne's ... "VERY DIONNE" ... expanded version CD released by Rhino Records.

Re: On My Own

I agree with you Steve ........... Have seen Dionne perform this in concert and throughout her peak performing years she could have sung the "Yellow Pages" and I'd have been a happy camper! "On My Own" is one of those few BB songs not tailor made for her. ....... Another that she...
