Dionne's CD set for Sept. 17 release

Dionne Warwick's new CD will consist of 12 songs, of which 6 are classics including a duet with her son David Elliott entitled "I Say A Little Prayer" along with two songs from her 1972 Warners' album "Dionne". There will be two brand new Burt/Hal songs. The recordings are curren...

Re: Burt to appear on "L.A. Tonight with Roy Firestone" Marc

Bonjour Vincent, I too was surprised that Burt didn't mention Dionne right after acknowledging Barbra! But back to Gladys. Gladys Knight & the Pips released an album in 1987 titled "All Our Love" which featured two (2) songs written, arranged, and produced by Burt and Carole: "Lov...

Re: Jessie Baylin

Bill, Thanks for the link. Have never heard of her until now and love her already! Caught her on Jay Leno tonight and the audience's response was quite affirming. You're right-sounds very Bacharachian. Reminds me of some of the other smooth, mellow voices like A Girl Called Eddy, Ceu, and Chiara Civ...

R.I.P.-Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston has died at age 48. My thoughts and prayers are extended to her mother, Cissy, her cousin, Dionne, her boss, Clive, her family, friends, and many, many fans.

Re: anyone else notice the similarities?

Thank you David and Blair for breaking it down. I have seen the Maestro in concert and the both of you are correct-each vocalist/instrumentalist is an integral and essential part of the whole. Burt's recorded concert in Sydney is a testament to that. Just wish he would do some studio recordings of n...

Re: beautiful song for a cold day

Thanks "blue" for sharing Jene's song with us. The whistleing in the intro reminds me so much of the whistleing in the intro of another "gem" entitled "Odds And Ends". I wonder who the whistler was on both?

R.I.P.-Etta James

Etta James passed away this morning in Riverside surrounded by her family. She was 73 years old. My thoughts and prayers are extended to her family, friends, and her many, many fans throughout the world. I met her back in the early 60's in OKC during one of her many engagements. She was a powerhouse...

Burt's memoirs due November

HarperCollins announced today the publishing of Burt Bacharach's memoirs "Anyone Who Had A Heart". It is a collaborative effort with the assistance of Robert Greenfield, who wrote the biography of Ahmet Ertegun in 2011. It tells of Burt's professional triumphs and personal troubles "i...

Re: beautiful song for a cold day

Hi burtchifan, I happen to have that particular C.D. which is hard to find. There's a record store (yes, there are some still in existence) here in Tulsa that have particularly rare C.D.'s. There's also quite a number of Maestro-composed "gems" that people aren't aware of. Amongst them are...

Re: beautiful song for a cold day

Thanks Steve for sharing that terrific song with us! I read a comment regarding her version of "Who'll Speak For Love" stating that there's a version done with Burt. I think Patrick Williams does a good job of arranging Burt's songs for her, but are there any recordings of hers that are ar...

Re: Bob Dylan

Thanks Spirit for that link. I too love Bob and have seen him in concert numerous times in OKC at the amphitheatre and once here in Tulsa at the Brady. My favorite album by him is "Infidels", the only one (that I know of) that was recorded, mixed, and mastered digitally (Spar code: DDD). T...

R.I.P.-Fred Milano

Just read where Fred Milano of The Belmonts passed away just three weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer at age 72. Just the other day I viewed their video of "The Bell That Couldn't Jingle", a Burt Bacharach and Larry Kusic composition, courtesy of "blue" of this Forum. C...

Re: Etta James

I am and always have been a huge fan of Ms. James and remember when I'd attend her shows in OKC and afterwards would come to my dad's nightclub to eat. A friend of mine was the drummer in the house band and at one performance at a club called "The Pink Flamingo" on N.E. 4th and Eastern (no...

Dear Burt, You make my next moment possible! Words can't express just what your music does to me. My wish is that you, Hal, and Dionne grace us with something new in the near future. I just can't get enough of the three of you, for you all are the epitome of great music and I commend you for all of ...
