Re: favorite version of "Alfie"?

We can count a new version of Alfie... by Rumer (there was a post recently in the forum about this british singer). Her version is more than decent (it will be available in a 7" in a few days with a new Bacharach Christmas song). Here's Alfie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXlC4RxOG-0 and here ...

Juan Carlos Calderón - bacharachian songwriter

I thought maybe you'd like to know about this remarkable pop songwriter who is frequently labeled in Spain as the 'Spanish Bacharach'. Born in 1938, Juan Carlos Calderón has written and produced dozens of hit songs and albums since the late 60s for lots of Spain and Latin American MOR (or as we say ...

Re: NEW ALBUM

He (Keating) is very lucky. I think he can do it very well with the appropiate songs.

Thank you for this, I didn't know her. I'm happy that a singer like her can sell records today to a mainstream public.

Re: Always Something There To Remind Me-1st recorded by Warwick!

I have read carefully all your posts and, yes, maybe the Dionne biography will tell something interesting about her feelings towards Bacharach (although autobiographies normally don't reveal too much, think of Michael Jackson's 'Moonwalk 'or Diana Ross' Secrets of a sparrow; a Randy Taraborrelli-Dio...

Dionnefan!

I think that's a "pose" of her... I can understand she does not like "Heartbreaker" (although maybe it's her most consistent hit), but "Check out time" is one of the best songs EVER.

Re: Always Something There To Remind Me-1st recorded by Warwick!

Hi! It would be nice to hear the DW demo Sandie Shaw's version was a #1 hit in the UK in october 1964... with an interesting teenage drama angle to the song I find very nice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujE6KsEfYUU&feature=related I don't think this version (or Sandie Shaw in general) are ver...

I love how she goes vocally high at the end of "I didn't mean to love you"...

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

Absolutely, blue, that could be Bacharach (and a H. David lyric also).

That youtube video sounds better than the horrible twofer Up up and away/Magic garden I own (terrible sound).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTZ_h4obH-0&feature=related This clip has probably been posted somewhere among the 24 previous pages, but I`m not going to search through them all to confirm it. In any event, it`s Richard Harris with Burt from a `72 tv special. There`s the obligatory rendition of...

Re: On My Own

One comment about this 1990 concert. I think it was in the Castle of Perelada, a beautiful medieval town with a castle (and a casino!) in north-east Spain. There is an annual summer opera festival in which, eventually, they celebrate some jazz or pop concerts. This was televised through national TV...

Re: On My Own

I love how she "waits" a bit before singing the "on my own" chorus... it gives the song a dramatic more dramatic feel than the original Patti Labelle version. I didn't know Dionne sang this.
