Re: Bacharach as Composer: Simple or Complex?
okay I'll get back in this: a) what is meant by a complex song? #1: probably the simplest way to define this is chromatism. These are melodic notes that leave the diatonic scale of the song. Many of burt's song lines have notes that "leave" the current scale. similarly, unexpected changes ...

Bacharach as Composer: Simple or Complex?
this is more of a musicological musing: most people who understand songwriting consider Bacharach to be a very complex songwriter; by this they mean his melodies, chord changes and key changes. One doesn't realizes this when one is simply singing along with his/her fave bacharach song; it all just s...

Re: Irma Thomas and a new Bacharach song
to be honest..I didnt mind the piano at all...in fact alot of Burt's material is best interpreted by others.
I wasn't overly impressed with the vocalist though. she didnt have much presence on the track. Can we get Ron Isley to sing this?

Re: How I Came to Like Burt Bacharach
I'm fond of trying to predict which 20th songwriters/composers will be remembered 500 years from now. My past picks have been:
Leonard Bernstein
John Williams
Berhard Hermann
Gershwin
I think I will add Bacharach to my list

How I Came to Like Burt Bacharach
Hi...this is my first post...I'm 33 years old from New Jersey. well, I came to like Bacharach's music in a different way. My first exposure to his material was actually through people sampling songs he had written. I remember Smith and Wesson's Stand Strong , which sampled Isaac Hayes' version of Th...
