burt in vegas and a heckler? corroboration?
My friend ryan just saw burt in vegas, (early november) and said that he was warm, relaxed, and charming. well dressed. etc. Mr. Bacharach apologized for botching "raindrops keep falling on my head" the first time through, and so played it a second time. But the most intriguing aspect of R...

the same problem with joni mitchell
dionne's vocal transformation is like joni mitchell. joni is a fantastic singer on her earlier albums, and a fantastic singer on her later albums, (turbulent indigo, anyone?) but it is almost like listening to two different singers altogether because of years of chain-smoking. there is a resonance a...

You're both wrong.
Well, an opinion can't be wrong, but i guess i strongly disagree. I think both these albums are great and worth owning. The new album, "at this time," is unbelievably good. the song "who are these people" is one of his best. The fact that it is political is brave and new for bach...

Me Japanese Boy!
I have never heard it, but I think the Japanese group Pizzicato Five covered the song a few years ago. Was it an underground hit? I think it would be a shame to re-write it for commercial success. I love it just the way it is. I winced a bit  at first at the playful, English-as-a-second-langua...

sounds different based on that second review!
judging from the previous review, it sounds like it was a "festival" that dionne was taking part in. festival shows often bring together disparate acts. music is music! dionne, with her deep understanding of black music evinced in her heartfelt renditions of jazz, gospel and soul music, pr...

and so goodbye...
the words are great, but even without the words, this song aches. ranks as one of two bacharach moments that truthfully make me weepy every time i hear them ... the other being the trumpet solo on "if i ever make you cry." these two melodies i find deeply emotionally resonant! all of his s...

Well, the weather outside is frightful, so maybe in the spring or summer months we can expect a concert in the northeast?
perhaps even boston?

We need a good mid-70's to the present collection!
OK ...so I have two bacharach box sets, the "look of love" and the "something big a&m years." I also have the double-disc "rare bacharach 1." These collections are great, but focus largely on the sixties and early seventies... (barring the inclusion of "futures...

Alright, i take it back. sorry i dissed engelbert. yes yes yes I admit I love the engelbert humperdinck version, i listen to it repeatedly. yes yes yes I adore this song; HOWEVER, one or two things about his performance DO irk me, and I just wanted to hear a different version.

Hmmmm...
Burt sings snippets of a few of his songs and one or two songs all the way through on a bunch of his solo albums. However, most of the songs on these albums are instrumental. Maybe at some point these scattered songs on which he sings were collected on one album? I do not know. It's too bad that app...

Well, I paid the extra $ for second day air. LOL!
YES i got mine. I'm a sucker and paid the extra money for second day air. I think it shipped from NYC, so I actually got it a day after I was billed for it and received a confirmation email. The packaging is decent, I don't think I could describe it any better that other guy did. but as I said befor...
