Blue,
Thanks a million for that clip. And it's in such good shape. I've only heard the songs but never seen any of the video itself. Joanie can really sing! And the arrangements are sooooo 1960s Bacharach. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now if only someone would release it on DVD.

I notice that the album cover for "On the Flip Side" says that Peter Matz did the arranging and conducting, but I can't believe that dance number arrangement that's on the video clip is by anyone but Burt, especially the brass.
Asian singers perform Bacharach hits; also 'My Exit' script
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npXwbMAcHgw
Listening again after many years to his songs and watched Lost Horizon again
in Youtube. I hope it's okay that Asian singers perform his songs on stage.
Also researching on musicals for a possible musical mystery 'My Exit'.
I wrote a one page storyline with scenes and song titles.
Need to develop the characters and conversation scripts, music, etc.
This probably requires some other artists to create it all.
Here's the website http://hhsato.info , click on icon 'figureoutline' for 'My Exit',
read the storyline, scenes, song titles and email me buzz@inoutside.biz . Thanks.

Here's another "On The Flip Side" cover version...

PS
Could "On The Flip Side" have been Burt and Hal's first musical ?

Just Couldn't Help It
This YouTube link has nothing to do with Burt. I accidentally ran across it a few weeks ago, and it was like a voice from the past that I barely remembered. It's such a gem that I just can't help wanting to share it. When you hear it, I think you'll understand why I had to post this. The strings, castanets, and organ add such depth to the arrangement, and Baby Washington's sad and soulful vocals are perfect. I think the organ is a classic Hammond B-3. It all works so perfectly, and sort of captures its own moment in '60s pop music history.

I never heard this version before and I love it! It's George Duke doing "In Between The Heartaches".
Enjoy!

Bonjour Vincent,
That song was so popular when it first come out in the sixties (and to this day) that
whenever you used the expression "what's it all about ? " someone would always reply...."Alfie" !
Take care mon ami,

Look of Love video idea
There are so many interpretations of this song on Youtube.
I think it would be great to have a video where a man or woman
is walking around in a big city and catches the eyes of a few
strangers as s/he walks around, and eventually catches the
eyes of her/his lover with the 'look of love' in their eyes.
Main msg being that there's a big difference to see a lovers hot familiar eyes
from strangers cool eyes! Collage of clips with closeups of eyes from
zoom ins, as main character walks around, until the final eyes of lovers.
Create a story with interesting visuals/computer graphics/video to match
the audio song.

Til We Reach The Best Of Times (lyrics I wrote for it)
I wrote some lyrics to match this instrumental piece. The numbers match the timing of singing the line according to seconds/minutes at the bottom right of the audio/video. First sung by a Female, then by a Male with timing in parentheses.
TIL WE REACH THE BEST OF TIMES (to Music by Burt Bacharach)
14s (1:04m) When all is said, and all is done
20s (1:10m) We've walked along this road...
25s (1:15m) We were riding the waves together
29s (1:19m) But we never, never / 31s (1:20m) knew where we were headed
34s (1:24m) Never looked back, 36s (1:26m) nor regretted
39s (1:29m) 3x And we'll just keep on trying
42s (1:32m) 3x On this path without the crying
[47s(1:36m)(2:54m)] Till we reach the
[50s(1:39m)(2:57m)] BEST of times
56s (by Female) With all the reasons and the rhymes...
(1:46s on 2nd repeat by Male) Without committing any crimes...
(3:03m on 3rd repeat by M & F) Making dollars out of dimes
1:52m/3:11m (Male & female) And now we're going far away from here
2:05m/3:22m (M & F) To reach all of our hopes and dreams...
2:14m/3:32m (M & F) For we know to well our fear...
End 4:16
