Burt Bacharach Article

Burt's showcase performance in New York with Ron Isley last November was the first--and probably only--chance I had to take flash photographs throughout a show. I probably snapped about 50 shots during the course of the show, but less than half of those were worth posting. The reason is that, in concert, Burt is not the photogenic celebrity of magazine features and television appearances. While performing, Burt winces, closes his eyes, distorts his face, gestures awkwardly, occassionaly dons spectacles and otherwise loses himself in the music.

I'm not a photographer so I had a tougher time than most, but it's still a challenge to capture flattering images of Burt in concert.

Thats ok, Mark...Burt is a man of action onstage...and many contorted
facial movments and dynamic hand gestures. We want to see him like this ...fully animated! You did well!
