Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)
One of the most poignant recordings I've ever heard of any Bacharach and David song is Trijntje Oosterhuis's 'The Windows of the World'. I remember Bacharach singing this himself in a London concert several months after 9/11 and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Wow! Roberto, how did you find the link for this? Thanks so much for posting it. I like the song very much; it's reminiscent of Burt's work from years ago, yet it has a timeless quality. I look forward to "The Gift of the Magi," and hope they have it finished for next Christmas.

Yeah, this is much more like it! If the rest of the songs live up to this, I`m on board!

I, too, was underwhelmed by Rumer but for me it has always been the song not the singer that matters.
(BTW, who ARE her "famous parents"? I`m old and had never heard of her before the couple of postings here).

She has a pleasant voice to be sure but I always wonder, when I hear a new Bacharach tune, how Dionne (in her circa 1969 voice) would sound singing it.

For folks outside the UK not familiar with Frankie Vaughan's UK no.1 version of 'Tower of Strength'. I believe this was Bacharach's 3rd song to get to the top of the UK charts. Let's just say it's a little bit faster than the version by Gene McDaniels!
