A song that didn't make a splash here

Post by Steve Schenck »

This is a song many on this board may have heard, but perhaps some never did. It got big play for a young British singer named Will Young. The song is quite good, I think, with many typical Bacarach flavors to it. In particular, notice the marimba/flugel horn replay of fragments from "Don't go Breaking my Heart."

I can`t say I care much for Mr. Young, but this is a nice song that had slipped by me. Thanks for posting it.

Will Young made a guest appearance at the Bacharach concert in Liverpool at the time this song was released. The released songs arrangement was noticeably edited from the much superior live version which also contained a great sax solo. Along with 'What's In Goodbye', Will Young also performed 'Wives & Lovers'.
Elvis Costello also made a guest appearance and performed 'God Give Me Strength' and 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself'.
