There are many, many videos of Dionne's performances on Solid Gold available on Youtube. Especially on her 1985 stint on the show, Dionne really does a stellar job of infusing the songs (including some that are not really that great) with such soulful elegance. A depth is added to the songs that was in many cases never acheived by the original artists. Check out her doing Stevie Wonder's "Go Home" and New Edition's "Little Bit of Love" for starters. She also turns the Solid Gold theme into a slow burn ballad and she really lets loose in that one. I even thought her singing of the regular "fast" version of the theme song was great.

Hi Dionnefan! Yes I remember avidly watching Solid Gold and what amazed me was Dionne's ability to interpret a vast array of material from differing artists and make the songs seemingly effortlessly her own .. to the point that I wished she could have recorded a whole batch of those songs herself!
