RIP Gene McDaniels

Post by Sara D »

It seems to have passed this forum by that Gene McDaniels died on July 29th. Of course, his big Bacharach hit was 'Tower of Strength' in '61 but he also recorded a terrific version of B&D's 'In Times Like These' two years earlier. Unfortunately the latter isn't on Youtube but the former is and here it is:

Hi Sara,
Here's another Bacharach / David song the great Gene McDaniels recorded in '62..
Later covered by Marv Johnson '63 and The Walker Brothers '66....

Very sad! I did not know this. One of the great pop voices, IMHO. Who can forget (if you're from that era) "A Hundred Pounds Of Clay"? I mourn his loss.
