Tom recorded this song in 1975... two years before Joshie's version on "Futures" (1977)
Here's another song Burt co- wrote with Bobby Russell also from ' 75...

I love the melody to the chorus but, to paraphrase Oscar Wilde: One would need to have a heart of stone not to laugh at the death of Charlie.

Trivia alert !
Burt also performed "Charlie" at his 1977 Edmonton concert with Sally Stevens on lead vocals...
