If I remember correctly -- and please correct me if I'm wrong -- when that book was first published, it was the first time a lyricists' lyrics were published in book form -- which was quite an honor for Hal. Does anyone else remember reading that at the time? I remember wondering at the time -- and I still wonder -- how many people would be sitting around reading song lyrics. And please don't take this as a "dig" at Hal, which is most certainly is not.

I have the book enscribed to Florence Greenberg from Hal David with a nice personal note from Hal...it's the second edition. Dionne also signed the forward. It's something I wouldn't part with. The book sold well enough to have several printings and even paperback. Hal achieved a fame in the 1960s that few lyricists ever achieve.
