Hal's Penthouse For Sale

Post by face »

Hal's penthouse is on the market: http://www.latimes.com/business/realest ... story.html. Pictures are in the article. I somehow pictured Hal living someplace less contemporary! I'd love to get a glimpse inside of Burt's place, too.

Nah...Too big for me and, besides,it`s in LA and I hated LA the one time I was there over forty years ago.
In all seriousness, I was driven out of NYC long ago by rental prices and am honestly just barely living indoors now.
A house is not a home, indeed.

Somewhat modest and practical "digs" for someone of Hal's stature during his senior years. ... I've lived in studios, apartments, high rise condos (one on the 52nd floor), townhouses and a large single family. Through it all - I always felt the same. Only difference "more stuff" - UGH! ........ Like Blair - I think I'll try ..... "just barely living indoors" ..... and move into my little RV (home on wheels).

Re: Burt's place - I've seen a few photos supposedly taken in Burt's home (I believe it's in Pacific Palisades near L.A.) and it certainly did not appear to be "over the top". The Del Mar beach house he shared with Angie and later with Carole was small and very modest except for its multi-million dollar location - right on the water and walking distance to the Del Mar Racetrack. ..... Also recall Burt driving around Del Mar in a big "old" yellow Ford Galaxy (and he once appeared in ads for Lincoln Town Cars).

Well blue - it is said that the 3 most important things to consider in purchasing real estate are: Location, Location & Location! ..... Your "humble abode" with its panoramic views passes that test. A new roof, windows and siding will turn it into your "dream home"!

But what "blue" isn't showing is what his humble abode looked liked BEFORE the fire:

The terrible reality is that I (and too many others here in the land of plenty) may end up fighting over accommodations like that if current socio-economic trends continue in their present trajectory - as, surely, they will. Not to seem humorless, but I`m genuinely frightened about where I may (not) be living in my old age.
Be aware.

Blair:

Your concerns are legitimate and I find that more and more young people are beginning to realize this. ....... Although we're still able to find some humor in blue's "humble abode" - complete with "hot and cold running mice" (a future source of protein) - I refuse to sell my "humble little 27 foot motor home". Perhaps we forum participants should pool our resources - make an offer to the executor of Hal David's estate and convert that penthouse to the "Bacharach Barracks". .... "Westward Ho" ....... Think I'm "Losing It" - SORRY!
