New Song in His style ....

Post by GKLondon »

Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if you could take a few minutes to have a listen to this track I've written and tell me what you make of it? I'm a london based singer-songwriter and I basically owe my entire musical education to Burt ... Recently got sick of writing plastic pop songs and potato soup commercial jingles and here's what resulted:

FADING INTO YOU

i'd love to hear what you think : )

thanks very much

GK,
Thank you, I love the "Walk On By" feel to this superb song.
Watch out Burt, you've got competition here !
Who says they don't write 'em like they used to ?

Sir Gk London,

Congratulations!

Wonderful Song and lyrics, a beautiful melody (solo) with a harmony rigorously faithful to the songs composed by Burt Bacharach.

Rich in dissonant chords in "maj7" maj7 +9 etc, but with originality ie "New Thing"!

Beautiful arrangement.

The introduction is in the style of "Walk on By" and my ears are not mistaken the song starts with the chord G # m7, this chord if transposed to Am7 corresponds the structure used in the introduction of "Walk on By ".

You have a very fine voice.

And now a question that could not miss:

Have you ever wondered "Fading into You" performed by Elvis Costello, Dionne Warwick or BJ Thomas? It would be a masterpiece!

Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

Sincerely,

Djalma Jr

Wow guys - thank you so much for those very kind words ... they really do mean an awful lot to me - unfortunately my immediate circle of friends and colleagues don't really have much time for this kind of music so it's really nice to get such wonderful feedback from people who clearly know the art inside out!

As for Burt having competition, I'm so not worthy!! :P

and finally, as for pitching it to the greats you mentioned, it's really much easier said than done ... but how wonderful it would be!

Since you've been so kind, if you have a few additional moments to waste, here are a number of other tracks - not all a la Burt but not miles away from the sound either ...

A very big thank you once again!

Goran

Goran!

.... WOW! .... While waiting for the technical glitch with your latest link to be resolved - let me say: This could - make that "SHOULD" be the start of SOMETHING BIG for you. ....Thoroughly enjoyed it and could readily imagine some of my favorite vocalists interpreting this great song! ........... Keep us posted on this terrific forum that our webmaster MARK has provided. ....... I'm certain your circle of friends and colleagues will soon grow to appreciate your artistry.

Just an aside.

Burt will be coming to England this year. You should give a copy of your wonderful song to Burt after one of his shows!

Burt will be thrilled!!!

Fading into you sounds strongly like Walk on By in the first few chords. Alot of the other nuances are Bacharach like as well. I love the ending

Whoever wrote Candles in the Rain is a grammy worthy songwriter. I started listening to critique the comparisons to Bacharach but got caught up in the song itself and it was superb.
