Gotta love Elton too!

Hey- Burt and Elton John are two of the best singer/songwriters of all time!! Is anyone else as big a fan of Elton John as me? I could listen to these guys and only these guys forever. Especially since Elton released his newest album- I can't take it out of my CD player! It's a 5 track mini-album called "Remixed" and it's old classics that he's redone in really cool new ways. I'd definitely recommend it to any fan of Barry or Elton. If you haven't heard it yet, check out these links I got from Universal...

On the other board, where you posted this same message, you mention that you got these links through your internship at Universal. I don't mind people promoting things on the board if it's related, however tangentially, to Burt, but please be up front about it...

Yes- I did say I got them from Universal- I have an internship there and that is how I get access to special music. It's a nice perk.

No, it's definitely possible to be a Bacharach fan and detest the music of Elton John! Well, most of it anyway. I've personally always had a problem with him trying to sound like he comes from one of the southern states, when in fact he hails from Pinner in south London! Then there's the 'vanilla' chords. I wont go on.

For the record, I think Elton John is a brilliant songwriter! He definitely has "the gift"!

Elton writes with a partner (last name begins with a T, isn't it?). Is Elton who always writes the music?

Elton's writing partner is Bernie Taupin. Taupin wrote most every song that you know as an "Elton John" song.

The amazing thing to me is that they met through a newspaper ad! I think it was Bernie who put an ad in a paper asking to find someone to write music to his songs. If that's not exactly how it went, I do know that they DID meet through some kind of newspaper "want ads".
