Libby Titus 1946 - 2024

Post by pljms »

I've just heard the sad news that the singer-songwriter Libby Titus has passed away aged 78 (There seems to be some confusion as to the year she was born with Wikipedia hedging their bets by giving both 1946 and 1947 and imdb going with 1946). She's well known to Bacharach fans for featuring both as a singer and as a lyricist on the 'Woman' and 'Together?' albums, but here she is with a song that she wrote with Eric Kaz in the early 70s and which has been recorded by over thirty different artists.

You can almost picture a hot summer's day by the riverside....very atmospheric.

Dr John's attractive piano piece Pretty Libby was written for Libby Titus and it's included on his album Dr John Plays Mac Rebbenack Vol.2.
