Bacharach finds his way to Wellington
20 September 2006

Legendary American composer Burt Bacharach, whose hits include Do You Know the Way to San Jose?, has found his way to Wellington.

Bacharach, responsible for some of the world's biggest hit songs, such as Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head, Alfie and What's New Pussycat, will play three concerts in New Zealand, including Wellington.

Bacharach, 78, will perform many of his hits from the past 50 years with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra at the TSB Bank Arena on January 26.

He will also play Christchurch on January 30 and Auckland on February 2.

The conductor, composer, pianist and singer, who had his first hit with The Story of My Life in 1958, and released the album At This Time last year, is a coup for the orchestra, which announced its 2007 programme yesterday.
Take care;

Vincent

You guys have more update info than I do!

I just got an update that includes the dates--but not the locations--of Burt's Australia and New Zealand tour. I just posted that to the On Tour page, but I'll have to keep digging to find out the details.

Great News for Fans Down Under

This is really good news - thanks to Tom1234, Vincent and Mark for letting us all know the details.

I believe the last time Burt performed in Australia with a full orchestra was in the early 70s. He was here in '98 with his core band.

Our friends across the Tasman have done well this time. But perhaps other Australian dates, aside from Adelaide, will appear also.
