For those of you who didn’t get a chance to catch the Bacharach special on BBC, here’s a link to the Bacharach/Wilson collaboration What Love Can Do demo. While, to these ears, it has a decidedly Beach Boys favor there are some very subtle Bacharach touches to the song. The song, for some reason, reminds me of the theme from Welcome Back Kotter. It sounds like John Pagano singing the demo to me, anyone agree?

Couldn't agree with you more, what a reunion that would be! But I'd be just as happy if John Pagano did an entire LP of Bacharach including the new songs with Brian Wilson. John does a terrific reading of A House Is Not A Home (available on his myspace page) not to mention Any Day Now. I'd love to hear him tackle After All too. The mind reels.
